Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse has opened up about her wedding day and how her now-husband upset her mother with a common tradition
Strictly Come Dancing's Oti Mabuse has opened up about her wedding day, revealing a tradition performed by her husband left her mother seething.
While chatting on Alison Hammond's Smart TV podcast, the dance sensation reminisced about her nuptials with husband Marius Iepure, which saw a blend of South African, Romanian, and Grecian customs come to life.
With a chuckle, she recounted her mum's dismay: "My mum was so upset with my husband, she was fuming, she is still upset to this day."
To add insult to injury, Oti highlighted the bittersweet cost of culture: "We had catering so we had to pay per plate. So, the plates that were smashed, we had to pay for them."
Recollecting the additional expenses, she continued: "So, they charged us extra, which upset my mum, I mean she was fuming. She still brings it up today, she is like 'do you remember when you did that? You smashed plates and I had to pay for them for a good time'."
The duo first crossed paths during a dance trial in Germany, later performing together and clinching the top spot at the German National Show Dance Championships. Two years on, they exchanged vows and welcomed their first child on Christmas Day 2023.
