Motsi Mabuse has admitted to becoming emotional on an 'important day' for her and her family as she shared what was the moment that 'changed her world'.
The Strictly Come Dancing judge took to social media to reflect on the arrival of August, as it meant she would be celebrating her daughter's birthday.
Motsi joined the Strictly judging panel in 2019, just one year after giving birth to her daughter. The professional dancer shares her child with her husband of seven years and former dance partner, Evgenij Vozynuk, with whom she lives with in Germany when not filming for the hit dance show
She has chosen to keep her daughter's name private although she did nearly slip up in a light-hearted moment on Strictly back in 2023 when she was giving feedback to actor Layton Williams and professional dance partner Nikita Kuzmin.
At the time, Motsi said: "The centre is too open, so if it's open it's difficult for [beginning of her daughter's name]. I'm sorry, I just said my daughter's name! You know I'm a mum! Nikita and my daughter's names are quite similar. Sorry everybody!"
But it doesn't stop Motsi talking about being a mother and doting on her daughter in public view on social media and in a new Instagram post, she looked back at being pregnant with her only child.
Alongside the post, Motsi shared: "why August means everything to me [heart emoji]. Motherhood changed my world, gave me strength I didn’t know I had, and a love that runs deeper than words. #MomLife #GratefulHeart #MotherhoodJourney #OneAndOnly #MyWhy #EmotionalMama."
it was then on Tuesday (July 5) as she marked her daughter's special day that she returned to her Instagram page with an emotional message of reflection.
Motsi, who is also known for appearing on the German dance competition Let's Dance, originally as a professional dancer, and later as a judge, typed on her Instagram Story: "My mom always gave us her very best [heart emoji] and now, as a mom myself, celebrating my daughter's birthday feels like I'm not just celebrating her, but also motherhood in all its layers.
"The challenges, the joys, the healing... It's a journey that has touched the deepest parts of me. My inner child gets to join in too. Laughing, playing and enjoying all the fun I once wished for her."
She added: "This day, her birthday, truly feels like the most important day of our lives. And yes, I always get emotional [face holding back tears emoji]. Maybe because I know that everything I do as a mom, I'm doing it for the first and the last time.
"My one and only little girl. Some will understand and some will not and that's ok."
