Carlos Gu has been flooded with messages from his Strictly Come Dancing co-stars and fans as he shared a 'beautiful' message which included an emotional apology.
The professional dancer is set to return to the BBC One dance contest later this year for his fourth year. Carlos joined the show back in 2022, at the same time as Vito Coppola, Lauren Oakley and Michelle Tsiakkas.
Ahead of joining the show, Gu said "I’m thrilled to join Strictly and very excited to get started. It’s a new chapter of my life and a new challenge as well. I’m absolutely ready to take on this journey and to shine."
And things got off to a fabulous start as he was paired with singer and actress Molly Rainford for his first series and they reached the final,
Last year, Carlos was dealt a blow when he wasn't given a celebrity partner, however, he very much made up for it thanks to his stand-out appearance in the professional group numbers, and in Claudia Winkleman's post-performance area, the Clauditorium.
Earlier this year, Carlos enjoyed his first joint headline tour alongside his friend and Strictly co-star Amy Dowden. Since then, the star has been living his best life.
The break has meant being able to spend time with his mum, and Carlos took to Instagram with an adorable post dedicated to her. It featured videos and pictures from their trip before he added an emotional caption.
Alongside the post, he wrote: "This was my first-ever trip with just my mum — and I’m already 32. Sometimes she embarrassed me, and I caught myself feeling annoyed or even judging her. I feel guilty for that.
"But the truth is, maybe she’s the only person who loves me completely, no matter who I am."
Carlos continued: "She danced and played like children. Watching her laugh and move so freely made me very emotional. Our first photo was on the Paris Metro. I kept trying to stop her from walking like a model while fixing her fringe.
"We took our first selfie together. I pushed her on a swing while she giggled like a girl. On a small Parisian street, she asked me to take a photo of her with flowers. She said she loves taking photos with flowers — something I never knew about her.
"I thought I knew my mum. But during this trip, she shared so many stories from her life I had never heard before. Mum, I love you. I hope you get to live the rest of your life exactly the way you want. I’m sorry for the times I’ve been impatient."
His Strictly pals were quick to respond, with Karen Hauer writing in the comments section: "Beautiful." Lauren Oakley echoed: "This is beautiful." Angela also reponed, as she said; "Love this. What a gorgeous pair. You’ll always be her 'angel'."
