Former Strictly Come Dancing heartthrob Pasha Kovalev has revealed the tweaks he's made to his daily routines after undergoing a "quick, easy and stress-free" health assessment. He has taken his doctor's words seriously and is now on a "strict" regimen of changes.

In a candid chat as part of Bupa's Knowledge Is Power initiative, Pasha, 45, admitted: "I didn't know what to expect, there is nothing wrong with me, which is very good. But, there are little things that you have to pay attention to, and it's little things that you don't really think about."

While no serious concerns came to light, Pasha said it hit home that he could make key lifestyle and dietary adjustments. He was advised that he needs more sleep and must reduce his bad cholesterol levels to dodge any future health issues.

While his LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol isn't alarmingly high, Pasha has taken his doctor's words seriously and is now on a "strict" regimen of changes. He divulged, "I've definitely changed my sleep pattern and I've started going to bed a bit earlier," and noted he has cut down his carb intake dramatically as well as striving for more consistency in his exercise routine, reports Bristol Live.

The NHS suggests that eating healthily and ramping up physical activity can aid in lowering LDL cholesterol, warning that an excess of this so-called bad cholesterol can clog blood vessels, escalating the risk of heart complications or a stroke.

Eating a rainbow of fruit and veggies, munching on oily fish, wholegrains, and nuts and seeds is the secret to eye health, according to top docs. On the flip side, the health gurus advise reducing our indulgence in naughty treats high in unhealthy fats and sugars—think fatty meats, cakes, cream, and the best of the hard cheeses like cheddar.

Pasha Kovalev, strictly svelte and ever-fit, voluntarily put his health under the microscope for the sake of his growing brood with Countdown's maths whizz Rachel Riley. "I've never done a proper check and I'm at the age where I've got family growing up, I'm not getting younger, and I thought it's the right time to start monitoring actually what is going on inside," the dance star confessed.

"You might feel good, but there can be things that happen underneath and then if you can catch them straight away you might be [thankful] later," Pasha highlighted the importance of staying one step ahead of any hidden health hiccups.

Becoming a devoted daddy coaxed Pasha to hang up his dancing shoes on Strictly Come Dancing in 2019, choosing nappy changes over the samba after eight glittering years. Despite his pal Aljaz Skorjanec shimmying back to the stage after a brief break, Pasha isn't tempted to waltz back.

"To be honest, I'm not planning on going back to Strictly, I am happy where I am," he revealed. "I had an amazing time on Strictly, I won it once which is amazing, but once you start having a family, my priorities changed a little bit. I just wasn't ready to divide my attention between family and Strictly, so something had to go."
