Johannes Radebe has been flooded with messages of love and support as he admitted it was 'tough' to say goodbye to his family after making a visit home.

The Strictly Come Dancing star has had a busy start to the year as he took on a major move away from the hit dance show's famous ballroom.

Johannes, who hails from South Africa, made his stage debut back in January as he took on the role of drag queen Lola in the hit musical, Kinky Boots.

He kicked off the UK tour of the acclaimed show at the start of the year before shortly heading up to Manchester with the show's five-night residency at Manchester’s Palace Theatre in early February.

The tour has since continued with Johannes wowing in the likes of Edinburgh, Cardiff and Cornwall. But the dancer recently took a break from the stage and headed back to South Africa to spend some much-welcomed time with his loved ones.

In one update on Instagram as he appeared to enjoy a safari, Johannes told his followers: "Nature is not a place to visit. It is home. #krugernationalpark."

He's since confirmed his trip has come to an end and alongside a sweet video and picture of him with his family, he said on Instagram: "Saying goodbye to home is tough, but the rewards of pursuing your career dreams are worth every moment."

Strictly co-star Dianne Buswell was among the first to respond. She first wrote in the comment section: "[red heart emoji] Beautiful," before the Australia native wrote in a seperate comment: "It never gets easier does it. Sending all my love."

Former Strictly star Oti Mabuse also replied: "Going home is pressing that reset button but definitely putting that fire back in us." Former dance partner Annabel Croft also said: "Safe journey back," which was echoed by fellow dancer Nancy Xu who posted a string of hearts and shared: "Safe journey back."

Fans were also keen to show the love. @xemstagramxo said: "Hope you had a wonderful time. You were incredible when I saw you in Kinky Boots a few weeks ago. So glad to see you're back on Strictly this year!" @jojo.radebe.fan wrote: "So glad you’ve had a beautiful time. so much love."

@oliviacoon commented: "Have a safe journey back @johannesradebe. It’s so lovely to have seen you spend time with your precious family but I am beyond excited to see you next week in Plymouth as Lola with my best friend @kinkyboots_uk." @carlypaulettewatson added: "So true but no matter where you are, your backbone of family love is always there."
