Dianne Buswell has shared the truth as to what led to fans to thinking she'd agreed to marry boyfriend Joe Sugg following her joyous Strictly Come Dancing win.
As fans of the hit dance show will recall, Dianne was seen shedding tears as she and her celebrity dance partner Chris McCausland were named the winners of the BBC One dance contest's 2024 series.
They were seen beating Miranda actress Sarah Hadland and partner Vito Coppola, Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and dancer Aljaz Skorjanec and JLS singer JB Gill and partner Lauren Oakley to lift the famous Glitterball trophy during the last live show of Strictly's 20th-anniversary series.
Joe, who met Dianne on Strictly when they were paired together in 2018, was in the audience with his girlfriend's parents, Mark and Rina, after they made it over from Australia last month to see their daughter perform live in the Strictly ballroom for the first time in her seven years on the show.
But Dianne seemingly sparked a thought among fans that she had a major update to share with her other half. The dancer was recently seen enjoying a break with Joe in South Africa as they attended their friends wedding.
While Joe returned to the UK, Dianne headed over to Brisbane where she seeminfly did some work on a secret project before heading off to Perth to be reunited with her family. The trip ended up being longer than expected after Dianne sadly suffered the loss of her nan and her dad fell ill and needed emergency surgery.
But Dianne has since been reunited with Joe and has been seen heading back into work as she and her fellow Strictly star Vito Coppola prepare to tour the country together with their 'Red Hot and Ready' tour this summer.
The pair appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss the upcoming shows on Monday (March 31) but host Susanna Reid wasted no time in addressing rumours the dancer is engaged after fans recently spotted Dianne wearing a ring on what is traditionally classed as the 'wedding finger' in her social media posts.
She said: "I want to ask you because there was a lot of speculation about the fact that you might have got engaged over the last couple of days..." Dianne let out a screech before she replied: "It's a really funny story! I was in Australia and it's quite hot over there."
She continued to explain: "I had just flown in and my fingers get a little bit swollen on the plane. So, I had a couple of rings on my right hand, which I do. But, because they were swollen, I had to take them off, and I put them on my left hand."
Dianne admitted she didn't realise that was the finger an engagement ring or wedding band may traditionally sit and added: "I'm taking pictures with my family and I put them online so everyone thought I was engaged. I'm not engaged."
Susanna's co-host Ed Balls responded with faux outrage and said: "Joseph, what are you doing? What's he doing, seriously?" to which Dianne replied: "I know! Joe!" before they laughed it off.
It comes after fans rushed to make a demand of Joe after Dianne's Strictly wine. Following the final back in December, the YouTube star gave his girlfriend the perfect surprise as he made a welcome sign for his girlfriend that celebrated her as the 2024 winner with discoball balloons also spotted filling their grand hallway.
He shared images on Instagram that showed Dianne beaming with joy as she held her own Glitterball trophy aloft at home as well as a picture of himself with her and Chris in the Strictly ballroom.
In a sweet tribute, he wrote alongside the images: "There are no words to describe how proud I am of you both @diannebuswell @chrismccauslandcomedy, Last night was an absolute movie. You made us laugh, you made us cry and you proved to the world that you are good enough and you can achieve anything the doubters say you can’t and more."
He went on: "Chris I thank you for making this year so special for Dianne and I could not be happier that you’re the partner she finally lifted the glitterball with."
Using Dianne's family nickname, Joe added: "Dot, it’s been a long winding, road full of ups and downs for 7 years but you have shown pure determination & dedication and you finally got there in the best way possible and everyone has been able to see how amazing you are and what an incredible teacher you are this year. You are both inspirations and have the nations hearts on behalf of everyone, thank you."
At the time, fans rushed to make a demand of Joe following Dianne's success in the ballroom. @sarahlawson84 said: "Joe is deffo going to propose now right?? No pressure Mr Sugg! #Strictly." @winterduck04 added: "JOE SUGG YOU’D BETTER PROPOSE RIGHT BLOODY NOW #Strictly."
