STRICTLY Come Dancing has confirmed the next slew of celebrity contestants that will soon quickstep onto the dancefloor.

On tonight's episode of The One Show, three shiny new celebrities were announced to be competing in the iconic dancing competition this autumn.

A Love Island star and a Doctor Who actress and a former footballer will join Olympian and Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey in the new series next month.

Harry was confirmed as the first celebrity taking part in the new series this week, with an additional three shared with The One Show viewers tonight.

Roman Kemp and Alex Scott were at the helm of the show and made the very exciting revelations.

Dani Dyer was the second celebrity contestant confirmed for the show, and the first of three revealed on The One Show tonight.

The daughter of EastEnders actor Danny Dyer will waltz her way around the ballroom in September when she joins the cast of the hit series.

Dani, 29, shot to fame when she won Love Island in 2018 - with her new reality stint very different to the dating show.

 

On joining Strictly Come Dancing, Dani said: "Getting the opportunity to be on Strictly is the second most amazing thing I’ve done this year!

"I feel very very blessed and cannot wait to get my dancing shoes on."

Reacting to the news of Dani being confirmed for the series, one person on X said: "Woooo I love Dani!!!"

"Whoop I love Dani! She’ll be awesome," penned a second.

And a third wrote: "I'm buzzing!"

Alex Kingston

The next celebrity to be announced as joining this year's series was Alex Kingston, 62, from long-running sci-fi series Doctor Who.   

Alex has portrayed the role of River opposite three different Doctors on screen and she continues to do so in audio adventure and novel form. 

Speaking about if she had any "signature moves" to the show's hosts, Alex teased: "My hips don't lie."

Alex was a hit with The One Show viewers and Strictly fans as soon as she was announced.

"Mother will win," predicted one person on X.

"The best Strictly signing ever," swooned a second.

"Suchhhh a good signing I'm SO excited for this," wrote a third.

While a fourth said: "The way I just screeched at the TV when this was revealed. Mother."

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

And the third and final celebrity announced on BBC One tonight was former footballing sensation Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

The former professional footballer is best known for his prolific goal-scoring career in the Premier League and across Europe. 

A Dutch international, Jimmy has a glowing career and has played for clubs including Leeds United, Atlético Madrid and Chelsea.

Since retiring, Jimmy has become a familiar face in football punditry for major sports networks - with his Strictly stint set to be a huge change for the 53 year old.

On joining Strictly Come Dancing, Jimmy said: "Swapping the pitch for the ballroom is certainly not something I’ve done before but I’m looking forward to tackling a fun challenge!

"Bring on a new type of footwork, with hopefully no own goals."

One fan on X reacted to the news of Jimmy being signed to Strictly, writing: "Genuinely sensational work by the talent team here."

A second penned: "No way. He has my vote already."

While a third added: "Sensational."
