The BBC One dance contest will kick off this autumn with a whole host of famous faces trying to win the coveted Glitterball Trophy.

On Tuesday's CBBC it was announced on Newsround that Nitro from Gladiators would be showing off his dance moves on this year's show.

Speaking about taking part, he said he was "buzzing" and "couldn't wait".

But A Drag Race star has now hit out at the show after the signing.

RuPaul’s Drag Race star Tayce and pro partner Kai Widdrington were crowned champs of Strictly's Christmas special in 2024, much to the delight of fans.

Now, Tayce has taken to social media after Nitro, who also took part in the Christmas special last year, was announced.

Tayce said: "guess I was too much," followed by a glitterball emoji.

Back in December, after Tayce won the show, insiders said the 30-year-old was at the top of BBC bosses’ wish-list for the main show after impressing the panel of judges.

Tayce was awarded a perfect 40 for her cha cha with pro dancer Kai Widdrington — beating celebs including Vogue Williams, Tamzin Outhwaite, Billy Monger, Harry Aikines- Aryeetey and Josh Widdicombe to the glittering trophy.

Viewers took to social media to praise Tayce and Kai’s routine, set to Kylie and Danni Minogue’s 100 Degrees.

And a source said: “Strictly have long wanted a drag artist on the show and Tayce has exceeded everyone’s expectations. She was an incredible competitor and the viewers clearly loved her.

“Tayce is a shoo-in for the main show in the autumn now and will be approached in the New Year about taking part.

“Strictly bosses are keen to get her on board as they start planning for the next show.”

The Sun previously revealed how festive champ Jamie Borthwick was being lined up for the main series.

But Tayce has now made clear that isn't taking part in this year's show, with her comment on X saying she was 'too much.'

Some fans think the cryptic post is actually a hint that she will be appearing.

Taking to Reddit, fans were divided as to whether this hinted at her joining Strictly's upcoming series.

One wrote: "She’s trying to throw off the scent."

Another disagreed, saying: "Idk, it sounds to me like girlie was waiting for the call, but it didn't happen."

A third said: "I would be delighted to see the fab Tayce!"

Others highlighted how Tayce's Christmas special co-star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey - aka Gladiators star Nitro - has already been announced for the series.

"Idk, I would interpret this as the opposite - she saw someone else from her Xmas special was cast and she wasn’t picked, hence saying she “guess[es] she was too much.

"I guess we’ll see."

A second agreed, commenting: "It feels odd though that they’d have 2 from the same Christmas special on…"

Josh Widdicombe, Tamzin Outhwaite, Billy Monger and Vogue Williams rounded out the Christmas special line-up.

Tayce achieved a maximum score from all four of the BBC show's judges.

It comes as The One Show confirmed the three latest names to sign up for Strictly.
