Stephen Nedoroscik drives fans wild as he hilariously references Superman meme for inspiring Dancing With The Stars performance tram

Stephen Nedoroscik referenced his viral Clark Kent meme as he performed a Superman themed paso doble on tonight's episode of Dancing With The Stars.

The Olympic gold medalist, 25, achieved viral fame after fans compared him online to Superman's alter ego following his performance at the Olympics over the summer.

'Obsessed with this guy on the US men's gymnastics team who's only job is pommel horse, so he just sits there until he's activated like a sleeper agent, whips off his glasses like Clark Kent and does a pommel horse routine that helps deliver the team its first medal in 16 years,' one of the memes said of Stephen.

And Stephen referenced the viral moment in his dance with pro partner Rylee Arnold, 19.

'After the Olympics, everybody said I was Clark Kent. I was sitting there meditating, I took my glasses off, killed it, came home with bronze,' Stephen said on DWTS as he prepared for the show.

'And people started calling me Superman. I would never have been there if it hadn't been there if it weren't for that meme, so I'm really excited.'

The dance began with Stephen on stage solo, dressed in a suit with smart black glasses and his hair slicked back ala Clark Kent.

Smoke billowed before Stephen as he swapped the suit for a flashy red look with an American flag print top.

The gymnast then dramatically tossed off his glasses - seemingly referencing the viral meme.

He kissed his flexed biceps before his partner Rylee joined him for stage for an electric paso doble set to the Superman theme song.

Judges were thrilled with Stephen's performance.

Carrie Ann: 'You're so much fun! From bronze to golden. That was golden! You are so much fun to watch. The likability factor in your routine is so amazing. And it's because you do everything full out. Your lines, your extensions, were really nice. We have some shaping issues that we'll get to later in the season. But woohoo! Superman in the house!' Carrie Ann gushed.

As for Derek, he had a few suggestions but overall was a massive fan: 'It's undeniable that you are so charming on that dance floor. You're speeding around like a speeding bullet. I love the capping sashays, the knee walks across the floor...

'The butterfly, so many things jam-packed in there. There's a few little things, the kryptonite, you know the hips are a little back, you get those forward, create the chest open, shoulders down. But dude, I love you!'

Bruno offered: 'I love Superman and superpower. You have so much energy. But now you have to learn how to control it. You cannot attack, attack, attack, attack, attack endlessly. You have to have finesse. Refinement... Don't anticipate. Punch, punch, punch, but then we need a caress.'

The dance earned a total score of 22

Ultimately, Stephen and Rylee received a total of 22 - an 8 from Carrie Ann and 7s from Derek and Bruno.
