Southern Charm Recap Shep Calls Taylor a ‘F—king Idiot’ Leaving Her in Tears Craig and Austen Battle Over Loyalty

Drama in the south. The Southern Charm cast’s getaway was anything but relaxing after multiple stars feuded and Shep Rose left Taylor Ann Green in tears.

During the Thursday, August 25, episode of the Bravo series, Shep, 42, called his then-girlfriend, 27, a “f—king idiot” after she smashed his egg during a playful game. The verbal attack, which took place on day two of the group’s trip to Yemassee, South Carolina, didn’t sit well with anyone.

“He can’t talk to you like that, that is insane,” Naomie Olindo told Taylor before the ladies left the game. “That’s abusive as f—k.” (Us Weekly confirmed in July that Shep and Taylor had split after two years.)

Austen Kroll, for his part, admitted during a confessional that he’d seen Shep “be rude” to Taylor “a few times” in the past. “It doesn’t sit well and it shouldn’t sit well with Taylor either,” the Kings Calling Brewing Co. founder, 35, explained.

Craig Conover also weighed in on the explosive moment during an on-camera interview. “I’m just disappointed. I’ve never seen him talk to Taylor like that,” the Winter House star, 33, said. “I’ve seen him talk to other people like that but not his girlfriend. It’s just bad.”

Shep’s cousin Marcie Hobbs revealed during her confessional, “I’ve known Shep all my life and he’s just always been like that. He has tantrums. He cusses at his mom. He knows better, because he was raised better.”

Shep’s drama with Taylor, however, wasn’t the only thing that caused a stir during episode 10. Craig blew up at Austen following a short-lived fight with Shep. “Craig is triggered and angry that he is on a trip with his ex [Naomie] who is hooking up with Whitney [Sudler-Smith]. And then turns his anger toward me,” Austen explained to the cameras. “It’s like, you truly need to look in the mirror because you’re a–hole No. 1.” (Naomie, 30, revealed during the August 18 episode that she and Whitney, 54, hooked up after their group’s dog wedding.)

Olivia Flowers, who was also feuding with Austen during the episode, jokingly commented on the bromance issues during her own confessional. “I should have known his lover’s quarrel with Craig was going to continue to be a thing,” the 30-year-old said.

Craig, for his part, later admitted to the cameras that his and Austen’s relationship “certainly has its flaws,” noting, “I need to fully accept him so when I’m drunk, I don’t blow up at him for all the things that piss me off that he does.”

Austen, meanwhile, seemingly made up with his BFF, but he was still upset that he got caught in the crossfire of Craig’s misguided anger. “There’s no way in hell that I’m in the wrong on this,” Austen said in a confessional. “I’m not apologizing to Craig for s—t.”

Craig and Shep Hash It Out
Following their drama during episode 9, Taylor pushed Shep to apologize for his past negative comments toward Craig. The Average Expectations author pulled his pal aside before night’s end, saying, “Craig, I’m really, really sorry. I’m dead serious. I’m sorry for all the s--t that I said.”

The Sewing Down South founder accepted the apology, but pointed out that he and Shep “don’t see eye to eye” on a lot of topics. “We have very different opinions on almost everything in life. We both have to be OK with that,” Craig explained. Shep acknowledged the comment, replying, “Craig, I love you and we’re gonna have fun,” to which the Delaware native said, “I do love you.”

Austen Pushes Craig’s Buttons
While Craig squashed his beef with Shep before dinner on night one of the getaway, he managed to get into a tiff with Austen that lasted multiple days. “He apologized,” Craig told Austen of his discussion with Shep at dinner. “But look, when you’re coming at someone, the problem isn’t the person you’re coming at.”

Austen pointed out, “You did that too. You were acting out and doing crazy s—t,” which prompted Craig to think his “Pillows and Beer” podcast cohost was “defending Shep.” Craig then got up from the table in a huff, saying, “I thought we were good, dude,” to which Austen replied, “We are good. Is this first level delusion?”

The night ended with Craig telling Austen, “Just for the record, we’re not friends anymore.” Austen, for his part, snuck off after dinner to avoid Craig. When morning came, things weren’t much better between the BFFs.

“I don’t have any problems with you,” Craig told Austen while they drank beers during the second afternoon away from Charleston. “You could have fooled me,” Austen replied. The law school alum then confessed, “That feeling of you not having my back is why I got so upset.” While Austen tried to explain that he was being a good best friend by telling him he was “doing something stupid,” Craig confessed, “I received it as an attack instead of being, ‘Hey, I’m just trying to help you out buddy.’”

In the end, Craig admitted, “Look, I do love you. I don’t like having to battle you. I hated waking up and, like, thinking you went to breakfast without me. I don’t like waking up being mad at each other. I shouldn’t say some of that stuff to you because it’s not how I feel.” Austen insisted, “I do have your back man, but if you think that I don’t, you’re wrong.”
Spooning? Southern Charm’s Naomie Spills About Whitney Hookup: 'It Was Fun'

Naomie and Whitney Heat Up
The group’s eventful bonfire and dinner was followed up by a rowdy night in the rec room. Some of those activities included bowling, drinking and playing basketball, but Naomie going off with Whitney became the evening’s biggest surprise. “Naomie and Whitney kept disappearing,” Olivia told Leva Bonaparte after the restauranter, 43, went home amid all the drama the night before.

Craig, for his part, seemed to embrace his ex-girlfriend’s new romance — but that didn’t stop him from annoying Naomie and Whitney during their alone time. “Naomie and Whitney!” he yelled while holding a sword and knocking on the couple’s door following their rec room time.

“Craig, you sound like, literally, such a f--king crackhead!” Naomie screamed back. Craig, however, didn’t let her reaction phase him, saying, “I’m just the guardian of the house. I hope you guys find happiness. I will protect these gates.”

The Pillow Talk author called his girlfriend, Paige DeSorbo, the next morning and told her about Naomie and Whitney’s fling. “Apparently everyone knew that Whitney and Naomie had been hooking up. It’s very weird,” he explained, before admitting he got a little wild one night one. “I found this antique sword,” he said, confessing that he went to knock on Whitney’s door. “Naomie’s voice comes out and goes, ‘Go the f—k to bed.’ … It just keeps getting crazier and crazier.”

Whitney and Naomie later alluded to how their romance was progressing during a one-on-one chat. “You’ve been very loyal and a good friend and just a great shoulder to cry on. And I thank you for that,” the Southern Charm producer told the L’Ayebe founder. “That’s me, just a shoulder to cry on,” Naomie replied, to which Whitney slyly said, “A naked shoulder.”

The Egg Toss Debacle
In between all of Craig’s spats, day two of the group’s vacation consisted of having breakfast and playing sports outside. During an egg toss game, however, things took a dark turn between Shep and Taylor. After Shep’s egg fell on the ground, Taylor stepped on it thinking that his team was out.

The Hilton Head, South Carolina, native freaked out, and yelled at her claiming those weren’t the rules. “It did not break! You f—king idiot!” Shep screamed, which caused Olivia to throw an egg at him and say, “Don’t call her an idiot!” Shep then got even more heated, replying, “You’re lucky I said, ‘f—king idiot.’ I should have said something worse.” The remark caused a rift between the group and the women all walked off to tend to Taylor.

“That was insane. You’re used to it, I can tell,” Naomie told Taylor once they were back at the main house. Taylor then admitted, “That happens often.” The France native pointed out, “That’s abuse,” to which Taylor explained that she “didn’t hear” what Shep called her initially because she is so used to the rage fits. She added: “Of course, I love and care about him. I can’t fix him. But I do care a whole hell of a lot. I’m, like, exhausted.”

Southern Charm Austen Kroll Olivia Flowers Relationship Timeline

Olivia and Austen Define Their Relationship … Sort Of
Olivia and Austen tried to avoid each other during the first day of the trip, but by day two both appeared to be frustrated with one another. “You can’t have these girlfriend expectations of me when you’re, like, going home with an ex,” the photographer confessed to Leva after learning that Austen spent time with his ex Ciara Miller after the dog wedding. “How do I even talk to him?”

She again revealed how annoyed she was at the situation during a confessional, saying, “Why are you going to be upset at me for something you encouraged me to do when you’re just going to go and play naked twister with your ex?”

The pair finally found time to talk about what’s going on in their relationship following more than a week of tension. “Honestly, I haven’t even talked to you since the dog wedding,” Olivia began the conversation. “I got word from Leva and Naomie that you were unhappy with my date situation.”

Austen admitted that he’d been “really bummed” but noted that it was his “fault” that she brought a date to the dog nuptials after he told her he wanted to keep things casual. He explained that he has since decided, “I don’t want you to be with anyone else. I want to date you.”

Olivia, however, wasn’t convinced and called him out for spending time with Ciara, 26, after that event. “You’re so full of s--t. How are you so bothered by my blind date setup when you yourself were out with someone that very same night that you have a past with?” she fired back, revealing, “I just wish you could’ve told me.”

Ultimately, the beermaker took responsibility for all the miscommunication and finally told Olivia how much she meant to him. “I really do like you a lot. I don’t want to date other people. I want to date you,” he said, to which she replied, “I don’t want to see you with other people either. … From now on, let’s just talk to each other.” (Olivia exclusively told Us in August that she and Austen were an exclusive item.)

Cat Fight! Southern Charm's Kathryn Brings Drama to Madison, Venita's Bash

Taylor Breaks Down Over Shep Drama
The clinical assistant started crying after all of the Shep drama during the trip. As she began to pack up her things to leave, Shep insisted he needed to talk to her. “You know I’m sorry and you know I love you. I don’t love anybody except for you,” he confessed while sitting with her in their room. “Am I perfect? No. Am I difficult to deal with? Absolutely. I really, really appreciate you dealing with it.”

The Commodore co-owner continued: “I’m a better person when I’m with you and I know that. I’m not a fool, but if I’m not good enough, OK. I will be sad and brokenhearted, but I’ll understand because I know how much of a f—king idiot I am.”

Taylor revealed that the “angry inner being that comes out” of him from time to time scares her and is why she became so upset. “I love you so much. My family loves you immensely. But I am exhausted and sometimes I want to quit,” she told him, holding back tears. “I don’t think you’re a totally lost human being.”

Shep noted that he needs to be with someone like Taylor to balance him out. “I want to see you happy. I want to make plans for the future. What do you want me to do?” he asked. Taylor pointed to Shep working on “being vulnerable” and putting his “ego aside and be kind to people” as things she needs to see change. He agreed that her requests were “completely fair,” promising, “I’ll work [to be] better, definitely toward you.”
