Shep Rose opened up about nearly proposing to ex-girlfriend Taylor Ann Green prior to their split in July 2022 while appearing on the podcast of Vanderpump Rules alums Jax Taylor, 44, and Brittany Cartwright, 35, last Thursday.
While also looking back on the moment that broke the camel’s back with their two-year relationship and offering an update on his thoughts about settling down, getting married, and having kids, the Southern Charm cast member, 44, admitted he was “lowkey thinking about popping the question” to Taylor, 29, as she showed off a racy pic of herself and boyfriend Gaston Rojas at a pool party.
On the February 8 episode of When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany, Shep said the demise of his relationship with Taylor began after he went “to go meet someone at a club.”
“I shouldn’t have gone at all. And I was in no condition to be out,” he admitted. “Taylor put me in the Uber to go home, and I got a phone call and redirected my Uber, and was, I don’t know, being a little amorous towards a staff member there who I don’t really know who it was. But it doesn’t matter. It happened. Taylor came and grabbed me. I obviously felt ashamed the next morning and the next few days… I just knew that I shouldn’t have been out and about.”
But it didn’t end there. Instead, Taylor became further upset after receiving a DM from a woman.
“She got a DM from the gal. She was all upset as she should be. I was like man, I’m a f–king idiot,” recalled Shep. “She was like you know what, we’ve lost a lot of trust here. And I was just like, okay, well, that’s a bad way to go into such a big serious, one of the biggest decisions of your life… So it ended right there.”
“ Still care about her. Still talk to her family a lot,” he continued.
When asked if Taylor was the one who got away, Shep stated: “It’s too close to think about… Everything happens the way it should. I’d take a bullet for her 100%. I know she’ll be happy and spread her wings, and be a great version of herself.”
That said, Shep, who reassessed his drinking habits after Southern Charm season nine, confirms he is still interested in getting married but wouldn’t take the next steps in life just because he knew he should.
“I would never go into that saying, ‘I need to change so I’m going to do this,’” he explained. “But I do think it’s a beautiful thing and it’s something to consider.”
While Shep and Taylor enjoyed some flirty moments with one another amid season nine, Taylor ultimately moved on with her current boyfriend, Gaston, whom she went public with at the end of last year, and over the weekend, the two of them enjoyed a pool day together.
As seen in a screenshot shared by Queens of Bravo on Instagram, Taylor posted a photo of herself and Gaston on her Instagram Story in which they were seen touching tongues.
“What’re the odds you would be here,” Taylor had written in the caption.
