See Who Patricia Altschul Celebrated Her 84th Birthday With tram

Patricia Altschul was feeling the love as she marked another year around the sun.

The Southern Charm matriarch rang in her 84th birthday on Wednesday, April 16, with her longtime friend Renvy Graves Pittman. Patricia marked the occasion with an April 17 Instagram photo, showing her and the interior decorator posing side-by-side in Patricia’s iconic Charleston home.

“[Renvy] and I celebrate our birthdays together every year,” she captioned the post.

The Instagram received thousands of likes and over 100 celebratory comments.

“Happy Birthday to two extraordinary women whose grace, elegance and kindness have no bounds,” wrote her close friend Dr. Eddie Irons, the husband of Southern Charm-er Ryan Albert. “Let the festivities never end!”

Patricia and Renvy closed their special day with an intimate dinner alongside Eddie, Ryan, and Patricia's son, Whitney Sudler-Smith.

“I’ll make a confession. I’ve lied about my age all these years. I’m 108,” Patricia joked in the episode before revealing her secrets to maintaining a youthful appearance. “I think your dermatologist is your best friend. And, also, the dentist. I go every three months because if you don’t take care of your teeth, I think that makes you look old.”

“Whatever you’re doing, continue to do it,” Shep told Patricia, to which she replied, “Martinis. Martinis are the key.”

Patricia Altschul shares an update on her memoir: "Not to brag..."

Patricia is now preparing to release a memoir, Eat, Drink, and Remarry: Memories from a Lifetime of Art, Class, and Southern Charm. She spoke about the tell-all book in a recent interview with Glamour magazine, confirming the full text was completed and had already received a rave review.

“I just finished,” she told the outlet. “I think it’s 60,000 words, and I’m now picking out photographs, and not to brag, but the publisher said it was one of the best memoirs he’s ever read. I was very heartened by that.”

Patricia Altschul's Life Before Southern Charm

There’s no doubt that Patricia has left an indelible mark within the Bravo-verse. Since joining Southern Charm (2014), the Florida-born, Virginia-raised socialite has become widely known for her quick wit, no-nonsense takes, and elegant southern style. But before her reality TV chapter, Patricia was already a well-known figure in high society, specifically in the fine art space.

Patricia graduated magna cum laude from George Washington University, where she also received a double master’s in art history and archaeology. She later returned to her alma mater as an assistant professor in the art history department and later owned and operated a private art dealership, Arcadia.

While Patricia has worn many hats over the years, there’s at least one more title she hopes to take on: grandmother. Find out what she had to say about Whitney’s romantic life and his potential entry into parenthood.
