The content creator addressed rumors that she stole her husband, David Craig, from another woman after trying to find work at a bar.
Sai De Silva is tackling rumors head-on in the latest episode of The Real Housewives of New York City.
In Season 15, Episode 9, the influencer joined Brynn Whitfield, Jenna Lyons, Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank, Racquel Chevremont, and Rebecca Minkoff for a beautiful outdoor pigeon-themed picnic hosted by Ubah Hassan. Brynn thought it’d be entertaining to play one of her “horrible games,” asking the ’Wives if there was any truth behind the most scandalous rumors to follow them outside the show.
Erin couldn’t go without steering the conversation over to the “good rumor” following Sai: that she broke up a marriage to nab her now-husband, David Craig.
What is the rumor about Sai De Silva and David Craig?
“So, how did it go again?” Sai asked the group. “I broke up a marriage…”
Brynn interjected to disclose what she heard cranking through the rumor mill.
“No, no, no, David owned a bar,” Brynn began. “You walked into the bar. You’re like, ‘Can I get a job?’ and he’s like, ‘Yes.’ Then you start banging him at the bar, got knocked up, he left his wife, and you’re like, ‘I’m stealing this man.’”
Did Sai De Silva break up a marriage?
Nope! Sai cleared any mix-up by telling the others that the rumor was “ca-razy.”
“I met David six years after he got a divorce,” Sai explained. “I have his divorce paperwork.”
“Sadly, I’m not a homewrecker,” She added. “It’s just people on the internet. When they can’t get to you, they’ll make things up, and sometimes it sticks, and other people will go for it.”
The general consensus was that Sai not breaking up a marriage was “bor-ing.” But, as Ubah pointed out, “If you’re nobody, nobody make[s] any rumor about you.”
How did Sai and David actually meet?
On one of the Scout the City content creator’s blog posts published Valentine’s Day 2017, Sai gave followers insight into the cute way she met David while on a 2009 girls' trip in Costa Rica. There, Sai stated, she and the others “surfed, indulged in poke, and partied for 10 days straight.”
“On our last day, I met [David] at a swim-up bar of a private resort that I randomly found during our stay,” Sai wrote. “He was on a work trip, and I had the world’s worst attitude. I can’t lie; I was a little hungover from the night before and suffered from a lack of personality due to my self-inflicting sickness. My head was killing me, and I was in no mood to make small talk with a guy I didn’t know. A few minutes passed by before he insulted me which actually made me laugh and gained my attention. I admired the fact that he was funny since I love to laugh. The more we chatted, the more I realized that we had a lot in common.”
At the time, David lived in Canada while Sai lived in the Big Apple. It was a relationship that nearly didn’t happen, Sai explained, because she almost canceled their first date on account of being sick. But then David “went beyond” her first-date expectations, and showed up on her doorstep with flowers and a get-well basket.
“He was literally the sweetest person I ever dated, and I immediately thought that he must be a serial killer,” Sai wrote.
They maintained a long-distance relationship and “a few years and 700 flights later,” Sai learned she was pregnant with their first child, London, now 11.
In 2017, Sai gave birth to their son, Rio, three months before Sai and David married, according to People.
The rest, as they say, is history.
