Real reason Strictly Come Dancing's Pete Wicks keeps dodging the boot despite... ngocc

Strictly Come Dancing's Pete Wicks managed to dodge the boot yet again at the weekend after scoring a measly 27 points from the judges.

The TV personality, 36, highest score of the series so far was 36 during week 8, but he remains the show's lowest-scoring contestant having been awarded just 22 points on two occasions.

Some fans of the series have questioned why Pete and his professional partner Jowita Przystał haven't yet found themselves in the bottom two.

Having been consistently saved from the dance off by the public vote, it has now been revealed that his clever marketing campaign could be the reason.

Pete's celebrity pals have rallied around him, with the likes of Sam ThompsonZara McDermott and Vicky Pattison urging their followers to vote for him.

A source told The Sun: 'Beyond soap stars, Strictly has never seen such an effective campaign as Pete’s.

'His celebrity pals span reality TV, music, social media stars and beyond and all of them love him.

'Every Sunday night that reality telly army is canvassing for votes for Pete and urging their own passionate fan bases to back their mate.'

Strictly fans were shocked by Sunday's dance off this week, as they questioned why Pete and Jowita weren't in the bottom two.

The TOWIE star and his partner finished bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday night, but made it through on the public vote.

Instead Wynne Evans and Katya Jones and Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe faced off in the dance off, with Wynne sent home by the judges.

Viewers, and Pete himself, were shocked when Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced he had made it through.

'Pete through, that’s ridiculous. Someone must have spent a toy of money on the phone lines . The words dance of the night,' tweeted one viewer.

'Pete’s safe over Montell?' asked another.

Pete and Jowita both looked shocked by the results, with the reality star later telling Claudia 'I cannot believe it.'

Jowita also revealed that 'he prepared a speech and everything.'

On Saturday Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell performed an American Smooth to Jump by Paul Anka, wowing the judges who awarded them a staggering 37 out of 40.

Meanwhile Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec showed the judges their Paso Doble to Torn by Nathan Lanier, impressing once again and proving their place at the top of the leaderboard.

And while Tasha and Chris were riding high, it was Jamie, Wynne and Pete who found themselves in the bottom three.

Anton called the performance 'extraordinary', but added that Wynne looked exhausted two thirds of the way in and as a result his form dropped.

Craig disagreed about the loss of momentum - but still complained about flat-footedness and swivel (or lack of).

The duo were awarded a total of 31 for their dance which placed them second to last, just ahead of Pete who fared far worse.

The reality star and Jowita performed a Cha Cha to I'm Too Sexy by Right Said Fred.

The former TOWIE star told the audience he wanted to do this dance as a thank you to Jowita, before joking it was the 'worst thank-you in the world'.

Their dance scored a total of 27 including a paltry four from Craig, placing him at the bottom of the judge's leaderboard.
