Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9, Episode 8 Recap: Healing, Thriving, and Surviving tram

Welcome to the recap for Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9, Episode 8. Last week, Jassi had a party for her boyfriend Darius, and everyone got to meet each other’s partners. It was a countdown to Karen’s court date, with an emotional scene between her and her cousin, David. Mia got into another row with Gordon about wanting to tell the kids she was with Inc. Ashley revealed she finally felt confident in herself and as a single mother. And her journey continues. Here’s exactly what went down in RHOP Season 9, Episode 8: “Healing, Thriving, and Surviving.”

Wendy wrapped up her birthday celebration and got her wish to move forward in a positive direction with Eddie’s family. Gizelle and Ashley held another GnA event, and this time, Ashley was the star of the show. Ashley also celebrated her birthday, as well as her readiness to move forward with her divorce. Karen finally went to court, only to have her date postponed. Mia dropped one bombshell after the other, leaving the ladies speechless at the end of the episode.

Ashley’s singing performance got mixed reviews

Gizelle and Ashley hosted another GnA Fusion fundraiser with the National Brain Tumor Society, and all the ladies were invited. Gizelle wanted to prove that GnA was thriving with its health and wellness rebrand. Still, others were confused. Wendy wondered, “I didn’t have clarity when they had the runway show. The only thing that was good was the crab legs. Now we are working out on the rooftop. Why are we here?”

That question was answered when Gizelle introduced “international pop rock star” sensation Ashley Darby. Wendy and Stacey killed it with their Statler and Waldorf commentary as Ashley sang “Healing and Thriving.” Stacey’s initial reaction was, “Yes, mama, yes!” While Wendy let out a dramatic, “Ashley, no.” As Ashley continued, Wendy asked, “Where’s Auto-Tune?” Stacey joked, “Ashley’s singing is like my dancing!”

The mood was high until Mia gave TMI. She shared Gordon told Inc she had an abortion after her affair with him. Now Inc was going to take a step back. The group was shook. Gizelle said, “Mia, girl. I don’t know what kind of scenario you are trying to establish, but this is like not cool for me. It’s not exciting; it’s not tea; it’s not drama. It’s too much.”

It was two days later and time for Karen’s initial court appearance. And she was nervous. Karen said, “I never thought I’d be in this position in triple twenty-plus one.” Then her lawyer Troy arrived to take her to court. Karen just wanted it to be over so she could finally “tell my truth.”

Keiarna and Mia were the first to arrive for cocktails to support Karen from afar. Surprisingly, the two were getting along. Mia’s apology was what Keiarna needed to move forward after their debacle at Lake Norman. As the rest of the group arrived, Gizelle shared, “Listen, Karen has had a day! We don’t need to trash Karen. We just need to support her.” Wendy noted it would give her pause if Karen was found guilty. She said, “That changes the ball game.”

Then Keiarna spilled the tea that Karen’s court date got postponed. Gizelle wanted to FaceTime Karen, but Mia joked she should text her first in case she had been drinking. Stacey was adamant that Karen didn’t drink anymore. Mia scoffed, “If Karen doesn’t drink, I’m celibate.” Stacey joked, “Ok, Karen is truly a drunk.” But not everyone found it funny.

Meanwhile, Karen was back at her house. Her lawyer was pleased with the outcome and promised to continue to work on her defense. When a producer asked Karen what happened, she said, “I’ll say this. The legal system is very slow, and I’m just going to have to be patient. But I wish it were today. I wish it were all over.”

Ashley had a low-key 36th birthday celebration with her family. And unlike Wendy, she was not where she wanted to be yet in life. Ashley shared, “I’m not quite where I thought I would be. Why aren’t I divorced yet? Why don’t I have my business GnA where it’s supposed to be yet? Then I’m like, Ok, it’s time to get my ass in gear.” And she was on her way. Ashley realized divorcing Michael would help her “step into this next phase of life.” She was finally ready to move forward.

Mia and Inc’s short-lived pause was over. When the producer asked Mia why, she didn’t have a clear answer. They played by their own rules with the pause button. A cheerful Mia picked up Inc at the airport, and the two dished on Gordon. After their encounter with him, the three ended up going to the pool with the kids to hang out. Inc joked that if Gordon were younger, he would do something about it. Mia laughed; he had to “respect your elders.” It was all good for now, but it was a constant rollercoaster ride between the three of them.

Wendy’s birthday party entrance didn’t go quite as planned

All the ladies arrived at Wendy’s birthday party, including The Grand Dame. Karen wasn’t worried about the girls either. She said, ”I can read them left and right, up and down, ok. So it is what it is. Anybody step in the line of fire … KABOOM.” But no Kaboom was needed. The most she got was Gizelle questioning what look she was trying to channel with her courtroom attire. Karen quipped, “Innocence.”

After Mia made amends with Wendy’s mom for calling her a crow (don’t ask), the birthday girl arrived via speedboat. However, the driver kept going in circles. Gizelle said in her confessional, “Wendy, you’re doing too much, honey. You’re boat entrance was an epic failure. You could not land the boat. Land the boat, ahoy!”

TJ was completely rude to Stacey and chastised her for ignoring him at the party. He said, “Get it together, man.” Ashley wisely observed that he should be talking to people at the party on his own. Then it was time for Wendy to cheers. She toasted, “Cheers to 40, but cheers to 40 more.” Wendy’s party was a success, which included her getting a photo with Eddie’s family.

Now it was time to get to business. Gizelle confronted Mia about posting family fun time photos of Gordon and Inc right after she cried to them at the GnA event about their fight. Mia shrugged her shoulders and said, “The fathers of my children can get along.” The group in unison asked, “The fathers?” Mia sure knows how to end an episode.
