Welcome to the recap for Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9, Episode 16. Last week, Ashley introduced us to her drag king persona, Ashton. But before she could get up on stage, things got tense between Karen and Mia. Karen had all the tea from Gordon’s lunch with Ray. She confronted Mia regarding Gordon’s side of the story about their divorce, custody, and the drama in Panama. Would Mia set the record straight? Here’s exactly what went down in RHOP Season 9, Episode 16: “The Truth Will Set You Off.”
What happened in Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9, Episode 16?
The drama between Karen and Mia ended up causing an unlikely alliance. Stacey switched sides to Team Mia, causing The Grande Dame to turn against her. But little did she know that Stacey actually held all the cards. Keiarna seemed to be at a turning point with Greg. The two were not on the same page regarding her being on the show, which made her rethink moving in with him. And finally, Wendy got big news: her next interview would be at the most powerful office in the country, The White House. But would she still bring Karen once Stacey showed her hand?
Ashley killed it on stage as “Ashton”
There was no time to breathe as we jumped right back into Karen confronting Mia. Mia denied knowing about the paternity tests while in Panama and claimed she just found out. But Karen wasn’t buying what Mia was selling. She said, “This is not a vindictive moment. It’s the right thing to do, and I’m gonna do it. Stop exploiting our emotions. It’s not ok. Period.”
Mia wasn’t going to let this go and came back at Karen. She said, “We haven’t talked about your life. We haven’t talked about your drunk driving.” This was all too much for the group, so everyone went back inside. But Stacey stayed behind to support Mia, which displeased The Grande Dame. She tried to get Mia to clear the air, but it was a no-go.
We then got a brief appearance from Jassi and Below Deck alum, Kate Chastain. Ashley’s whole crew was there to support her along with her man, Josh. She then got up on stage and killed it as Ashton. All those TikToks paid off because the dancing was next level. Karen was also thoroughly impressed. She joked that she was about to take Jacqueline’s girl.
Afterwards, Wendy gave Ashley all the tea she missed earlier. Jacqueline tried to save Mia when she interjected that Gordon lied a lot, but no one was listening. When Wendy said Mia’s son was Gordon’s, Ashley screamed, “B*tch, you’re lying!” And that pretty much summed up how the group felt about Mia at that moment.
Mia was in a tangled web with Inc and Gordon
The drama from the night before was the topic du jour at Ashley, Gizelle, Keiarna, and Karen’s lunch. The four dished about Mia over their truffle Caesar salads. But Keiarna quickly switched topics to Greg. They were still fighting about him not supporting her being on the show. Karen noted that Greg wasn’t going to change. But would Keiarna realize that?
Mia picked up Inc from the airport, and he wasted no time spilling the tea. He told her that Gordon had texted him the paternity results and he didn’t believe them. You would think Inc would be more upset that Mia didn’t tell him the results herself. Mia admitted it was a tangled web, but Gordon was confirmed to be her children’s father, and he wasn’t going anywhere.
Stacey met up with Ashley at the Humane Rescue Alliance. Because of course she was an ambassador to all things warm and fuzzy. She told Ashley she would be hosting a fashion show and the group would be walking the runway with rescue pups. The two then dished on their divorces. When Stacey told Ashley she waived her child support, Ashley gave her the same horrified look the attorney did. And yet, there was still no changing Stacey’s mind.
Stacey paid the price for crossing The Grande Dame
Things weren’t looking good for Keiarna and Greg. Keiarna wanted to discuss her feelings, but it was clear he did not. When Greg finally opened up, it wasn’t great. He told her, “You should just go with the flow sometimes. Just calm the f*ck down.” Keiarna gets major kudos for staying calm. However, he got defensive again when she told him he was dismissive of her. She wondered, “If we can’t compromise here, how are we going to compromise long term?”
Meanwhile the group was at Vivien’s shop looking at dresses for Stacey’s fashion show. But Karen was noticeably missing. She had texted Stacey she couldn’t attend “due to your comments/actions at Ashley’s last event.” When Stacey filled in Gizelle, Wendy, and Ashley, no one seemed to be on her side. Wendy hinted that Karen was salty because she had supported Mia and not her.
Gizelle said Karen was also probably upset because she was at her friend’s shop. Stacey said, “Gizelle, Mia has called Karen a drunk, a cheater, K said she was on Ozempic. I didn’t call her to tell her I was having an event with my friend, so she’s dropping out? It seems a little imbalanced.” However, the real issue for Gizelle was that Stacey hadn’t donated to her GnA events. Stacey countered that was a bit difficult because she was thrown out.
Stacey concluded, “I stood up for Mia, and clearly, I’m being reprimanded by the entire group. Karen seems to want the kind of friends who just blindly follow her no matter what she does. And if that’s what Karen is looking for, then maybe I’m not the right friend.” Stacey was activated, and I am here for it!
Wendy was headed to The White House
The former professor was stressed. The second season of the Dr. Wendy Show was on the horizon, and that meant a lot of work ahead. However, Eddie had news to brighten her day. She was going to interview press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre at The White House. Wendy was literally on cloud nine. And she couldn’t wait to take Karen. Unfortunately, she didn’t know Karen’s supposed true feelings about her.
But Stacey did. She unleashed all the tea to her new bestie Mia over some wine with a “heavy pour.” After the usual story from Mia about Gordon, Stacey let loose. She said Karen had filled her in on the group before she had joined. She told her to stay away from Mia because she wasn’t “Potomac.”
Mia said, “Is it Potomac to be a drunk swinging on bar stools? Is it Potomac to crash your car into trees and get repeated DUIs? I haven’t been accused of any of that. So what exactly is Potomac?” Depends on the zip code.
Then Stacey dished that Karen said Wendy was “completely self-absorbed” and “only out for herself.” Mia couldn’t believe it. She said, “I will tell you, the truth doesn’t expire. Okay, Karen Huger? Everything that’s been in the dark eventually comes out to the light.” And no doubt it will all come to light in the finale next week.
Real Housewives of Potomac continues Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo.
