Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16 Episode 15 Recap: The Rebirth ngocc

At first it was the reset, then it was the renewal. This week on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, it was time for the rebirth.

On The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16 Episode 15, “Chapter 3: REBIRTH,” the ladies finished their trip to Grenada on a high note. They partied, Shamea’s luggage finally arrived, and it was an all-around good time for everybody. Whether or not the good vibes will stick around once they get back to Atlanta is a problem we’ll worry about later.

After rallying around Shamea and educating Brit on donation etiquette, the ladies turned up the heat for their final day in Grenada. Shot o’clock was every hour on the hour, and the whole crew seemed in good spirits as they took in everything the island had to offer. While that made for a rather uneventful episode, we’re still here to talk about it. There’s nothing wrong with a little bit of fun, especially considering what this group has been through this year.

A kiki with the OGs on Real Housewives of Atlanta

Something is brewing between Kelli and Brit, and this week, all of the ladies were talking about it. On Day 3 of the trip, the OG cast members. Porsha, Phaedra, and Cynthia, had a hilarious little kiki where they talked about everything from inverted nipples to clitoral hoods.

It was hilarious, but then things got a little shady when they started talking about the relationship between Brit and Kelli. They could sense that something was happening in that friendship. The two of them went from being as thick as thieves at the beginning of the season to Kelli trying to chastise Brit at the dinner table over her lackluster donations to Grenada.

Phaedra told the ladies that there was actually a lingering issue between Kelli and Brit over a glam squad. The fact that Phaedra knew all of this after only knowing these women for a few days is peak Housewives behavior.

Over in Kelli’s room, a “well-rested” Brit showed up ready to address the weird energy with her on-screen bestie. Surely, a producer prodded them into this conversation because otherwise, there was nothing else to talk about on Day 3 of the trip.

During the chat, Kelli told Brit that she had a “bigger purpose” in life and needed to show the group (and everyone at home) a more well-rounded side to her personality. For example, we saw a flashback to the Country Club Classic, where Brit claimed to have paid for her entire “team” to get any plastic surgery of their choice.

Brit basically said that Kelli was guilty of the same thing, constantly running around with a glam squad, a security detail, and a bunch of other extras to make herself look less like a regular person and more like an A-list celebrity. She also called out Kelli for trying to teach her a lesson about donations in front of the whole group. Why didn’t she just tell her that privately?

The ladies left it there, but in the confessional interviews, we got all of the tea about why there’s such weird energy between her and Brit. Just like Phaedra said, it all started with a dispute over a glam squad.

Supposedly, Kelli told Brit that she could use her glam squad, but Brit took things a step too far and tried to poach them. Kelli said that Brit had a full-blown meeting with the glam squad behind her back, which prompted her to tell her employees not to work with Brit.

RHOA takes on Jab Jab

The ladies capped off their trip to Grenada in the best way possible — attending a nighttime Jab Jab celebration. If you weren’t familiar with this tradition, the Peaches did a good job explaining it. Kelli said it was the “ultimate experience of liberation,” dating back to the slave trade when Black people were called “jabs.” Jab means “devil,” so the Grenadans took the term and reinvented it, turning it into a massive celebration leading up to Carnival.

Part of the festivities involve covering your body in oil, and every single cast member participated with a smile on their face. No one was too good to get down and dirty, but Cynthia did have to craft “hair condoms” to protect her braids. The hair condom reveal was just one of many laugh-out-loud moments this week.

Throghout this trip, the ladies were mystified by the hunky men of Grenada. Jab Jab didn’t help, because the men were half-naked, wearing devil horns, and dripping in oil. It definitely unlocked a new kink for Phaedra, who said she might have gotten pregnant at some point during the fun. Not necessarily what we were looking for with the “rebirth” goal, but more power to her.

Farewell, Grenada

Of course, we know that every cast trip on Housewives starts off with the intention of “growing closer.” This might be one of the only trips where it actually happened. By the end of the episode, the RHOA Season 16 cast finally felt like a real group of friends and not some sort of sick NBCUniversal social experiment gone wrong.

At the end of the episode, the ladies came together to reflect on the trip. Kelli revealed that the crystal she brought to help bring peace and good energy broke. That’s what happens when you buy crystals from Dollar Tree, but Kelli saw it as a sign. The ladies gathered around as she chucked the crystal into the ocean.

“I’m truly grateful for Grenada, and I felt like this was the rebirth we all needed,” Kelli said. “We were able to connect on so many other levels, and just really relax and reset, and renew. I pray that when we get back to Atlanta, we can continue this sisterhood.”

Cue the clips of the final episodes of the season, where Phaedra appears to spread a rumor about Angela’s husband cheating on her. Is it too late to try to fish out the broken crystal from the ocean?
