But for Penny Lancaster, it was King Charles who helped her realise she was more than just ‘Rod Stewart’s wife’.
The 54-year-old attended an award ceremony for the King’s Foundation earlier this month and presented an award at Buckingham Palace alongside other ambassadors.
Reflecting on the honor, Penny said: ‘When I met the King he looked down the line at everybody either side of me. It was Alan Titchmarsh, David Beckham, Kate Winslet and Meryl Streep and he said, “This is my favourite special constable.”
‘So now, that’s my intro, I’m not just Rod Stewart’s wife. It’s never that anymore, it used to be Loose Women but now it’s Special Constable.
Speaking to the We’re Not Getting Any Younger podcast yesterday [MON], she added: ‘I was on the coattails of my husband for a long time but now I’ve gained a lot more confidence and a lot of healing and Rod’s now a lot more happy for me to lead the way.’

Penny completed her training as a Special Constable in 2021 for the City of London police and works as a volunteer, covering events such as the Queen’s funeral and the coronation of King Charles.
The mother-of-one has been married to the Maggie May singer for 18 years in 2007 and celebrated their anniversary last week.
The couple celebrated by holidaying in Portino, Italy, where they exchanged their vows almost two decades ago after seven years of dating.
Sir Rod, 80, has eight children with five different women, two of whom are sons Alistair, 19, and Aidan, 14, which he shares with Penny, his third wife.
While the You Wear It Well singer has enjoyed various relationships throughout his life, he described Ms Lancaster as ‘the most gorgeous woman ever’.
It comes as the Faces frontman is due to headline Glastonbury Festival on Sunday in the prestigious Legend’s slot at Worthy Farm.
