Loose Women panelist Penny Lancaster has opened up about a hidden health battle that her husband Rod Stewart has been dealing with, and it's something most fans won't have known about

Loose Women's Penny Lancaster recently opened up about her husband Rod Stewart's lesser-known struggle with colour blindness during her appearance on the ITV show.

The 53-year-old joined panelists Charlene White, Linda Robson, and Denise Welch to chat about various subjects last Thursday. The conversation took an unexpected turn when discussing bold home decor choices, leading Penny to reveal some surprising personal details.

Giving insight into their vibrant home style, she explained: "My husband is colour blind and when we're going he'd go 'darling does this go with this?' and I'm like 'on you, it does, honey' because I think you're flamboyant and that's your style and it's great.'"

She continued, highlighting the contrast within their home's aesthetic: "But like I have a room which is zen, calm. You know I try to create some zen in our mad house!"

This revelation came amidst the backdrop of media attention where Rod had to publicly affirm his commitment to Penny amid conjecture surrounding the state of their 17-year marriage, reports the Mirror.

Previously, the Daily Mail reported tensions brewing over the sale of Rod and Penny's lavish Beverly Hills abode. Acquired by the singer in 1991 for $12m, the expansive property, equipped with nine bedrooms, twelve bathrooms, and even a football pitch, could fetch upwards of $70m today.

The famous pair hit headlines last month

Rod, aged 79, had reportedly assured his wife Penny that they would make a full-time return to their Grade II-listed country mansion in Essex, boasting 10 magnificent bedrooms. However, there were subsequent reports suggesting discord between the couple.

However, Rod has outright refuted such claims. In a statement, he clarified: "There is absolutely no rift between Penny and I, and no disagreement on where we should reside, in fact, it's the opposite," adding, "We moved permanently back to our beloved Britain a year ago but are fortunate to also have homes in different countries, which we love to visit."

He further elaborated: "Originally we did think it made sense to sell our house in LA, but having spent a wonderful time there this summer with family and friends during my Vegas residency we realised that it makes sense to keep our house there."

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV1.
