Oscar De La Hoya Hints at Ryan Garcia’s Highly Anticipated Comeback Fight trucc

Ryan Garcia dropped

OSCAR De La Hoya has expressed his interest in delivering a series of co-promoted matchups, one of which being a potential rematch between Ryan Garcia and Rolando Romero.

The pair squared off in an uninspiring encounter earlier this month, with ‘Rolly’ flooring his man before pulling off a tremendous upset down the stretch.

As it happened, a counter left hook dropped Garcia, 24-2 (20 KOs), in only the second round, and then a lack of activity from both fighters ultimately saw Romero, 17-2 (13 KOs), claim a unanimous decision victory.

Before that, a dark cloud had been cast over Garcia’s controversial encounter with Devin Haney, where the American floored his rival three times before edging a majority decision.

The result, however, was later overturned to a no-contest after it emerged that ‘King Ry’ had tested positive for ostarine, a performance-enhancing substance.

In response, the New York State Athletic Commission handed him a year-long ban, allowing a vastly different version of the previously ferocious puncher to return before long.

Naturally, a string of questions were then raised following his defeat to Romero, with fans highlighting the more laboured nature of Garcia’s performance.

In any case, though, it would appear that his promoter, De La Hoya, is eager to see the 26-year-old enter an immediate rematch with ‘Rolly.’

Along with that, the Golden Boy boss told Fight Hype that he is keen to work with rival outfit Premier Boxing Champions more often, highlighting Gilberto Ramirez vs David Benavidez as another possible cross-promotion matchup.

But regardless of who he faces next, it would appear that Garcia’s promoter has no interest in a rematch with Haney, despite the pair having previously been on a collision course.
