No, Vanderpump Rules Has Not Been Canceled — Here's Why the Show Isn't Filming hangg

Bravo’s hit reality series Vanderpump Rules has not been canceled, despite fan speculation about the show's future following its three-part season finale in May.

PEOPLE can confirm that Bravo plans to bring back the series in the future after a hiatus prompted by the events of season 10 and season 11.

Season 11 of the hit series focused on the aftermath of Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix's breakup following his affair with costar Rachel Leviss that ended their 10-year relationship in March 2023.

In the final season 11 episode, which aired on May 7, Sandoval's tearful apology sparked Madix, 38, to walk out in the middle of the season-end party and caused additional tension between the other contestants.

A few weeks prior, on April 24, Deadline had reported that filming for season 12 of Vanderpump Rules was delayed and would not happen this summer. This news — and the dramatic finale — led to conversation about who would return to the series, if it returned.

A fan on Instagram also alleged that many of the Vanderpump Rules contestants had taken out any mention of the show from their social media bios, fueling more questions. That claim doesn't seem to be entirely accurate, as the clip includes screengrabs of Sandoval and fellow contestant Tom Schwartz's profile without any mention of the series. As of June 18, however, both have “#pumprules” hashtags in their bios.

This hiatus is necessary after the highly-charged events of these last two seasons, those involved with the show have said. Vanderpump Rules producer Alex Baskins told Variety that the break will provide “a clearer picture a few months from now” about who would come back since “it was such an intense experience in such a compressed timeframe.”

“I think we will do an analysis of what else we need to consider for the show — and that’s who returns, and what the complexion of the cast looks like,” Baskin told Variety. “I think everybody needs a little bit of time to live their lives, and then we can pick back up on them in a different spot.”

On May 1, Andy Cohen noted that hiatuses are not uncommon in the Bravo world, saying on SiriusXM's Andy Cohen Live that "we used to do this all the time with the Housewives."

"We would say, 'You know what? Let's put cameras down for, you know, four or five months and come back to them.' And they will have lived life. Things will be different," Cohen said.

Lisa Vanderpump also further confirmed with E! News that the show is not going to be canceled any time soon.

"Vanderpump Rules is on hiatus just for a little bit," the 63-year-old Vanderpump Rules namesake said. “Let it breathe. I think we were going around in circles for a little bit."
