Nancy Lee Grahn Shares Her “Inspiring” Day With Kathy Griffin hangg

Comedian Kathy Griffin is known for her outspoken personality and pull-no-punches sense of humor. But over the last several years, she’s also become quite the hostess with the mostess among Hollywood’s elite thanks to her “salon-style” dinner and luncheon gatherings she throws at her Bel Air mansion. Though the guest lists often include some of the most popular names in the zeitgeist, Griffin’s get-togethers are always small, intimate, and an eclectic group — her way of bringing folks together for simple conversation. And General Hospital star Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) was lucky enough to have been at the table on May 26.

“Got the coveted invite to Kathy Griffin’s salon with an impressive bunch,” Grahn revealed on Twitter/X, sharing a handful of photos from the latest salon lunch. “Four hours of enlightenment, laughter, great food, and her house is insane!”

On Instagram, Grahn went into more detail about both the party and the hostess. “Spent a beautiful, fun inspiring day at Kathy’s home (BTW, one of the most stunningly elegant homes I’ve ever been in) lunching and conversing with 12 of her lovely and accomplished friends,” the GH star shared. “Kathy hosts occasional salons, bringing together 12 others that pretty much guarantee interesting, enlightening, hilarious, and lofty conversation. I got the coveted invite this time.”

Other guests at Griffin’s table were Gen Z political activist Victor Shi, reporter Jason Leopold, musician Michael Penn, actor Ed Begley, Jr., his daughter Hayden and wife Rachelle, occasional GH guest star Morgan Fairchild (Haven), singer Aimee Mann, comedian Julia Sweeney and husband Michael Blum, television expert Kate Casey, and entertainment journalist Kim Masters. Each of Griffin’s salon parties is held in honor of one guest, and this time around, it was for Begley, who recently published his memoir, To the Temple of Tranquility… And Step On It!

From the way Grahn described the afternoon, she was as taken with the hostess herself as she was with Griffin’s palatial home. “She is without question, a great deal more than an iconic comedian, as if that’s not enough… Kathy is ridiculously intelligent, fierce, informed, engaged, generous, and kind,” Grahn noted. “After spending four hours with her, I now know that in the unlikely event of us being on a sinking ship together, I’d definitely get in Kathy’s dinghy. She would take charge, take no [crap] and keep us alive while laughing at the same time.

“Having been raised by a great woman, I can easily identify greatness in another,” Grahn concluded. “Kathy has that chip.”

Although Grahn only met Griffin for the first time in person that afternoon, the comedian declared on the soap legend’s Twitter/X post that they are now pals. “Nancy, it was such a pleasure to meet you,” Griffin wrote. “We are now friends. Let me tell you, these salons keep me going. Just simple conversation. People actually listening to each other and laughing and getting to know one another. Simple, but a dying art. What a great afternoon this was.”

We look forward to seeing more from this dynamic duo in the future!
