Mia Thornton has confirmed her exit from The Real Housewives of Potomac. Mia, who joined the cast in Season 6, shared the news of her RHOP departure on Instagram on April 21. Her announcement comes weeks after Season 9 wrapped up back in March 2024.
"With every new season comes a new beginning and I have some news to share. My family and I have made the decision to relocate to Atlanta, and with that, I will not be returning to The Real Housewives of Potomac next season," she wrote in an Instagram post.
Prior to confirming her exit from RHOP, Mia posted several Instagram posts that seemed to hint at her big announcement. "Not just a headline — I am THE STORY," she wrote. "The Countdown has begun. Power. Presence. Purpose."
She added in a separate post, "The headline is mine to write. The legacy is mine to build."

In her announcement, Mia reflected on her time spent on The Real Housewives of Potomac, which included many changes in her personal life, including separating from her husband, Gordon Thornton.
"The past four seasons have been an unforgettable journey, one filled with growth, lessons, and so many incredible memories. I want to thank Truly Original, Bravo, NBCUniversal, and Andy Cohen for believing in me and giving me the space to share my story," she wrote.
She also added a message for her RHOP cast members as well as the fans who followed her on her journey: "To my castmates: thank you for the laughs, the lessons, and the unforgettable moments. And to the amazing fans, your love and support has meant everything to me. I’ll always carry that with me."
What's next for Mia Thornton after RHOP?
In addition to her recent move to Atlanta, Mia also teased what's next for her after RHOP.
"This next chapter is already full of exciting opportunities, and I can’t wait to take you all along for the ride. Big things are coming," she wrote on Instagram. "I don’t just make headlines — I make History. Atlanta, brace yourself. The empire has expanded. [Legacy In The Making.]"
