Stephen Nedoroscik, who won two bronze medals in gymnastics at the 2024 Paris Olympics, is now set to compete on the 33rd season of ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars” premiering next month.

Mr. Nedoroscik, 25, an artistic gymnast, won one of his medals as part of the U.S. men’s gymnastics team and the other as an individual for his display on the pommel horse. He is known on the Internet simply as “Pommel Horse Guy.”

The U.S. men’s team medal was its first as a team since the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where they also netted a bronze medal.

Mr. Nedoroscik was the first contestant announced for the upcoming season of the long-running celebrity dance show, which premieres on Sept. 17 on Disney+ and ABC and on Sept. 18 on Hulu, according to a post from the show’s account on Instagram.

Mr. Nedoroscik announced his participation in the show on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Thursday, and said he plans to incorporate his athletic background into his dances.

“I want to bring some of that gymnastics - maybe a backflip or handstand. I want to have fun with it,” Mr. Nedoroscik said on the show.

The full cast of the next “Dancing With The Stars” season will be announced Sept. 4 on “Good Morning America.”
