May Showdown: Diego Pacheco vs. Christian Mbilli Bout Set to Thrill Fans in Highly Anticipated Clash trucc

ONE of the best fights that could be made in the super-middleweight division may take place this Spring.

Leading contenders Diego Pacheco, 23-0 (18 KOs), and Christian Mbilli, 28-0 (23 KOs), are in talks to face off in a WBC world title eliminator according to Mbilli’s co-promoter Top Rank.

Veteran boxing reporter Dan Rafael revealed the news in a recent Fight Freaks Unite mailshot which added Mbilli’s other co-promoter Camille Estephan is leading the negotiations with Pacheco’s promoter Eddie Hearn.

Should a deal be made, the fight could take place in May at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City, which would give Canada-based Mbilli home advantage. That month is shaping up to be an important one for the 168-pound division.

On May 3 Canelo Alvarez and William Scull meet for the undisputed title with the Mexican aiming to become a two-time holder of all four titles. The undercard is expected to feature Bruno Surace and Jaime Munguia meeting for a second time after the Frenchman’s shock win last year.

The winner of Pacheco-Mbilli will hope to land a title shot in 2026 if Canelo defeats Scull and then faces Terence Crawford in September. Pacheco is currently the WBO’s mandatory challenger while Mbilli is ranked the number one contender with the WBC and WBA.

Pacheco was last in action earlier this year beating Steven Nelson over 12 rounds in January. Mbilli, meanwhile, has been out of the ring since August 2024 after a 10-round points victory against Sergey Derevyanchenko.
