For the second time this series, the two celebrities who received the lowest score had to face the dance-off.

The eight celebrity contestants hit the dance floor for another performance hoping to impress both judges and viewers again tonight.

Brian Redmond, Arthur Gourounlian, Loraine Barry and new judge Karen Byrne were back to give their professional and tough-talking reviews and scores tonight.

Irish Olympian Rhys and his pro partner Laura Nolan were second to perform in tonight's show.

The pair danced an outstanding Rumba to Ellie Goulding's Love Me Like You Do.

Unfortunately, Rhys and Laura failed to impress the judging panel as they received mixed reviews.

Arthur said: "It got a little bit heavy in the middle, which is a shame because I know you can do so much, you can be more fluid with it."

The crowd then began to boo the celebrity judge before he added: "I'm not finished. Your chemistry is so fiery that literally, that made me engage for this performance."

Brian remarked: "As you well know, every champions journey has a challenge somewhere along the way and I do think this was a challenge for you tonight."

He then told how Rhys did a "really great job" on the technique, but the storytelling "needed a little bit more".

Pro dancer Laura and host Jennifer Zamparelli were left in shock as he added: "Although it's not your best week, it was still okay."

Despite the harsh comments from Brian and Arthur, Karen said: "Sometimes you forget, you're not a dancer. Watching that, you look like a great dancer."

Loraine added: "I think, as a male, I think you did tremendously well."

RTE viewers felt the judges scores could have been a little "harsh".

'SHOCKED'

Elaine said: "Thought Rhys deserved higher marks."

Eamon remarked: "Did you ever hear such s***e from judges. Shocked that an Olympic gold medallist can move and dance."

Colin wrote: "It was better than okay. Not his best week but that was harsh."

Jo said: "Well judges, you are just not serious. If after giving lovely Kevin a five for that and talking it up, you can then go on to give a 7/8 for a magnificent male Rumba, then you just can't be taken seriously.

"Laura was genuinely and rightly shocked. Make it make sense."

Another added: "Have we seen a better male Rumba on this show? That was so undermarked!

"Rhys needs our votes tonight."
