JOEY Essex’s stalker will avoid going to court because she has been deemed unfit to stand trial.
Instead the TV star will be protected through so-called safeguarding interventions — despite the woman threatening to shoot his ex-girlfriend.
The pest, in her 30s, allegedly sent Joey more than 100,000 messages, including some targeting Love Island star Jessy Potts.
But police say it was agreed that criminal prosecution was not the most appropriate course of action.
A source close to Joey said: “Naturally, he feels a little apprehensive over the news she won’t face trial — but has full trust in the process.”
The stalker, who is from the Stockport area, was reported to police in August.
Reality star Joey, 34, told us, he had to act as her messages had become threatening.
She was traced and her electronic devices, including a mobile phone and laptop, were seized earlier this year. She was bailed under strict conditions not to contact Joey.
But Cheshire Police say they have agreed with health agencies and prosecutors not to head to court.
It said: “Investigations into cases of stalking are often complex.
“Our investigation concluded the most appropriate course of action was to put a comprehensive package of multi-agency interventions in place to safeguard Mr Essex.”
Joey, who found fame on The Only Way Is Essex, split from Jessy, 25, in September blaming busy schedules.
