While she didn’t find love on this year’s season of Married At First Sight, Beth Kelly has emerged as a clear favourite amongst viewers. The 28-year-old salon manager, who hails from Lancashire, Northwest England, became known throughout the season for her brutal honesty, cheeky sense of humour, and fierce loyalty to her friends.
Since the series began airing in the UK last month, the intruder bride has also gained a loyal following from fans in her home country. Her Instagram followers have doubled in the past few weeks, with some people even requesting that she appear on the UK version of the reality show.
Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle after ending her relationship with Teejay Halkias in Sunday night’s episode, Beth admits she would “definitely” accept the opportunity if she were asked to appear on MAFS UK.
“Of course I f**king would! Why not?” she remarks. “I’ve obviously not been able to find myself an Australian lad, so I may as well go back to my home roots and try and find a Brit. Sign me up!
“I would love to do it. I’d do it in a heartbeat.”
Is MAFS UK similar to MAFS Australia?
MAFS UK premiered in July 2015, two months after the Australian version of the reality show began airing on TV.
The first five seasons featured only a handful of participants taking part in a much simpler version of the experiment, with just two couples appearing on the show in both 2019 and 2020.
The series then adopted the Australian format in 2021 and began producing over 30 episodes a season, with Mel Schilling joining as a relationship expert alongside Charlene Douglas and Paul Brunson.
MAFS UK has seen its fair share of scandals and viral moments since then, with four couples still together.
Rhi and Jeff set to return to reality TV
Beth isn’t the only season 12 contestant tipped to return to reality TV in the near future, with Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels rumoured to be appearing on an upcoming season of The Block.
An insider told Woman’s Day that Channel Nine are “keen to invest in their love story” and they’re “being geared up to be the face of the show” following their positive portrayal on MAFS. While it’s unlikely they will appear on this year’s season of the renovation series as filming is already underway in Daylesford, the couple told Yahoo Lifestyle they’d be very interested in competing on the show in the future.
“When I saw [the rumours], I actually got a little bit excited,” Jeff remarked. “I thought it'd be a great fit for us to go on The Block. It's a show that I've actually watched for a few years and I find it really entertaining.
“I had a great experience with what we just went through on Married At First Sight personally, and I love Channel Nine and all the production there. I think it's a great fit, so who knows what will happen down the track?”
'I'd definitely give it a go'
Rhi added that although she doesn’t have any experience in home renovations, she would “definitely” say yes to the opportunity.
“I’m not sure how handy I would be, but I'm sure I could paint,” she said with a laugh.
