After a dramatic recoupling, Harrison Solomon has decided to leave the villa

Love Island has reportedly lost another star, with Harrison Solomon deciding to quit the villa after finding himself in a heated love triangle.

The ITV dating show first aired in 2015 and soon became a popular staple in households across the UK. For those unfamiliar with the format, it sees a group of singles living together in a villa and coupling up with each other in the hopes that they'll find love and take home the cash prize.

Previous years have seen stars like Olivia Attwood and Chris Hughes couple up, as well as Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury. Viewers may recall that Molly entered the villa as a bombshell alongside Maura Higgins who later coupled up with Curtis Pritchard.

Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan won the last series and secured the £50,000 prize. Unfortunately, the couple later split with Mimii taking to her Instagram to confirm the news.

22-year-old footballer Harrison, originally from Derby but based in Miami, has been torn between two islanders - Toni Laites and Lauren Wood.

Emotions became heightened between the trio as they battled for the affection of Harrison who seemingly kept changing his mind.

It's been reported that Harrison left the villa late on Thursday (17th July) night and will be heading home soon.

A source told The Sun: "It's been a momentous few days for Harrison and ultimately he has decided to quit.

"Everyone was so shocked and people were crying and hugging him. He worked through everything with the ITV duty of care team and is making his way home to his family now."

In the latest recoupling, Harrison made a shock decision and chose Toni despite sharing a bed with Lauren the night before. Toni also chose Harrison, causing Lauren to burst into tears in the villa.

Toni's decision came as quite a shock considering she informed Lauren earlier that day that she was done with Harrison.

As they sat by the fire pit, she said: "He's all yours, girlfriend. I'm removing myself from this. This is getting f**king ridiculous and it's making me nasty. He's lying to both of us. I can't keep doing this."

Harrison's antics have caused fans to criticise him online, and on X (formerly known as Twitter), @MASEMlNAJ wrote: "'I feel like I miss Lauren' I NEED HARRISON OUT OF MY VILLA NOW".

@mymidnightdress added: "HOW does harrison have ANY girls interested in him??? he repeats every bad behaviour he has done over & over again. horrific to watch".

Women's Aid issued a statement expressing their concern over "unhealthy patterns of behaviour" on the show.

Jessye Werner, communications manager at Women’s Aid, told The Tab: “In recent years, Love Island and other forms of reality TV have been repeatedly called out by viewers for allowing in contestants that had a history of abusive, coercive and manipulative behaviour in previous relationships. As a result, production companies have been more careful when it comes to selecting contestants and calling out toxic behaviours when we see them.

“Despite these positive steps, we still see unhealthy patterns of behaviour on these shows, showing just how steeped in misogyny and sexism our society still is.

"Women are often lied to, slut-shamed and manipulated, as well as laughed at behind their backs. Misogyny and sexism lay the foundation for the tolerance of abuse and violence – it reinforces a culture that excuses and trivialises violence against women and girls.

"More must be done to educate contestants on sexism and misogyny, and it is a great credit to viewers who take to social media, continuing to call out these behaviours as soon as they see them.”
