Madison also reasoned that she was allowed to question who she wanted to be with while dating in the pods and that she wouldn’t have been grilled as much for doing so if she were a man. This is true since David Bettenburg did the same thing, and there was barely a mention of his actions while dating in the pods during the reunion. Madison expressed that she’s tired of having to explain herself and being shown in a bad light when Alex and Mason allegedly have another side to them off camera.
Mason Horacek Was in No Place to Play the Victim Card on 'Love Is Blind'
It’s true that Madison wasn’t the most green-flag contestant out there and made some bad decisions. However, Mason and Alex can’t use that card to save themselves from taking accountability. Mason’s statement that he would’ve loved to validate Meg Fink the way he did Madison at the Love Is Blind Season 8 reunion and insinuating that the latter was to blame for it was completely out of left field. Madison shouldn’t have to take the blame for Mason’s lack of clarity in prioritizing Meg. It was his own fault for throwing validation and reassurance at Madison while completely blindsiding Meg.
Madison made her stance clear that she was leaning toward her other connection, which caused Mason to panic and confess his feelings for her. If Mason truly felt strongly for Meg, as he claims, then Madison’s opinion or feelings should hardly have been a factor in his hesitation to pursue Meg. His explanation that he only committed to Madison because he “felt pressured to do so” was diabolical! She had simply stated that they seemed to have better connections with other people, so she brought it up so they could address it.
Alex Brown Was Allegedly a Different Person on and off Camera
During the reunion, Alex called Madison out for being manipulative and two-faced and painted her as a villain. However, Madison alleged that Alex was a completely different person when the cameras were rolling. At the same time, there have been rumors swirling around about Alex online about his shady past. However, Madison chose to stick to addressing their text messages and how Alex had been throwing shade at Mason the whole time and had even expressed immense interest in Madison once he saw what she looked like.
There Are Underlying Sexist Currents Behind Why Madison’s Coming Under Fire
Madison remarked that she was sick of taking the heat and explaining herself as a woman for something that men always got away with. Even in the context of Love Is Blind Season 8, David strung Molly Rose and Lauren O’Brien for the longest time without giving them clarity. However, David’s actions were not addressed during the reunion. From Madison’s point of view, it makes complete sense to weigh with whom she had a stronger connection before making a final choice.
While she dragged it along longer than necessary and got herself up in everyone else’s business, she should not be given slack for exploring her options. Making her a villain simply because she was dating two different men in the pods is an incredibly sexist view since the male contestants who followed the same patterns are not being called out for doing the exact same thing. Madison may not be the poster girl of being a green flag, but she raised valid points that need to be considered for an equal distribution of accountability.
