Love is Blind: Brazil season 4 premiered on June 19 on Netflix. The popular dating show diverted from its usual format and featured singles familiar with the tests of love. From single parents to divorced individuals, people from different backgrounds entered the show willing to give love another try.
Among them were 34-year-old Marcia Ishimoto and 30-year-old Andre Romano, who hit it off on their first meeting. Although separated by pods, Andre and Marcia connected immediately, bonding over their children, who were both on the autism spectrum.
Their following conversations went smoothly, and Marcia assumed he might be the one. However, toward the end of episode 1, feeling triggered by the unresolved trauma from his past marriage, Andre decides not to pursue Marcia any further.
What happened to Marcia and Andre's connection on Love is Blind: Brazil season 4?
Marcia and Andre bonded over children
Love is Blind: Brazil contestant, Andre, is a single father with a four-year-old daughter, Fernanda. He first conversed with Marcia, a single mother with a five-year-old son, Anthony.
While talking with Andre, Marcia revealed that she had several failed relationships, which impacted her relationship with her father. However, soon they mended things as he agreed to support her with her son.
She went on to mention that her son, Anthony, is autistic, which surprised Andre since his daughter, Fernanda, was also on the autism spectrum. As a result, their connection flourished quickly. Marcia could be seen saying on the show:
"Having someone who understands what it's like is just, it'd be so nice. 'Cause we'd both be able to help each other and help the kids."
In a confessional, Andre admitted that Marcia understood him entirely and displayed all the traits he desired. Just like her, Andre's life revolved around his daughter. The Love is Blind: Brazil participants discussed how they could take their children on walks together, and enjoy a good time. Andre said:
"I think if I found someone special, it'd be great for not just me, but for my daughter. And it's really help me be myself."
Andre feared he would get hurt walking into a new relationship
Andre revealed to Marcia that his previous marriage fell apart within months. He shared that his father was a drug addict and an alcoholic which affected his marital life negatively.
He further stated that in 2022 his mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and he had to be there for her. While he grappled with those responsibilities, his marriage fell apart and left him in shambles.
Recalling his mother's eventual death and his unemployment, Andre hesitated to start something new with Marcia on Love is Blind: Brazil season 4, fearing he would get hurt again.
Andre expressed:
"My heart's been closed. I'm feeling all sorts of emotions. I'm scared, not sure why, but something's holding me back."
After being single for the past three years, Andre felt unsure about opening his heart again for a potential relationship. He admitted to a fellow Love is Blind: Brazil cast member that he felt "apprehensive."
Andre revealed he had not fully recovered from the trauma that his previous marriage left him with. All his insecurities and doubts resurfaced once he was all by himself. Fellow cast member, Gutto Lima, advised him to give Marcia a chance and not let his past overburden him. Andre further confessed:
"I really enjoy talking to you. And I really do like you a lot, for real. But I don't really feel ready if I'm being honest."
Love is Blind: Brazil cast member, Andre, wanted to think rationally and not let his unresolved feelings hurt someone else. As a result of his insecurity, he chose not to pursue his relationship with Marcia. However, Marcia felt misled and said it would not be easy for her to forgive him after the connection she assumed they shared.
