The star expressed her concerns over how the healthcare system treats women in the UK
Loose Women's Kaye Adams shared how she feels that "all women have been let down" as she discusses the state of women's healthcare across the UK.
Speaking on The Dr Louise Newson podcast, the star expressed her concerns on how women are treated in the UK healthcare system, particularly when it comes to HRT.
She shared: "I think all women have been let down...we’re at least entitled to reliable information, professionally appraised and communicated in a way we can understand…and I don’t think we’re getting that."
Discussing the misinformation surrounding menopause, Kaye added: "I'm a journalist, and I'm always trying to make sense of stories... that's just how my brain works.
"But I've never been able to make sense of this one... the whole HRT story, the information women are given, and the choices we make based on information we're not entirely sure about. I've always felt that was just unsatisfactory."
Kaye continued: "Women (are) maybe not getting the information that they ... need and deserve… and that’s something that we should all be really concerned about…
"I think all women have been let down...we’re at least entitled to reliable information, professionally appraised and communicated in a way we can understand…and I don’t think we’re getting that."
The Loose Women star and Dr Louise Newton then opened up about the "guilt" surrounding the used of HRT for menopausal women.
Kaye shared: "I suppose to a certain extent, I've always had an element of not guilt, but should I really be on this stuff? Because I didn't have terrible hot flushes. Okay, I had a wee bit of night sweats.
"It wasn't too awful. Did have a bit of brain fog, to be honest. But my brain is back. My brain is definitely back. I'm always waking up in the middle of night. I remember that name, and I had very low mood for six months.
"That was the most marked thing, and that was very much around the time of my period stopping. But, you know, compared to what you hear from some women, it was mild. So why am I on HRT?"
Kaye regularly leads the panel of Loose Women, but the ITV daytime show will not be airing for the rest of the week due to the Royal Ascot races.
At the end of the Monday's (16th June) show as the panel bid farewell, Ruth Langsford shared: "That's it from us today, and it gets worse, it gets worse. We're not on all week. ITV's coverage of Ascot will be on, but we will be back next Monday, same time, 12:30.
"Until then, have a lovely week, enjoy the sunshine if you have it. Bye bye!"
All 35 races at the Royal Ascot will be available to watch on ITV, with ITV1 airing the first six races of the day before moving over to ITV4.
