The presenter appeared on a popular American talk show and was accused of changing her accent
Loose Women star Denise Welch admitted what "bugs" her after she made her American talk show debut.
Last month, the presenter made her official debut on an American talk show as she appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
During her time on the show, Denise discussed her thoughts on Taylor Swift, who momentarily dated her son, The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, and shared her support for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
During Thursday's installment of Loose Women, Denise led the panel as she was joined by Kelly Brook, Katie Piper and Nadia Sawalha.
Speaking about appearing on American television, Denise said: "It was my American talk show debut, of course, because nobody has a clue who I am over there!... I just honestly love it, I couldn't believe I was on an American talk show."
Katie Piper then quizzed Denise on her accent, after viewers accused the star of adopting a different voice during the interview.
Some viewers picked up on a slight American-twang to her voice while speaking to Andy Cohen, but Denise insisted there was no difference.
She responded: "It really bugs me that, because in this country, if I do another show people go, 'oh she's lost her Geordie accent'" as she imitated a stronger accent.
Denise continued: "I've never talked like that in my life! And then people said I was doing an American accent", before jokingly calling the accusation "rubbish".
Loose Women then showed a clip from her interview, and Nadia agreed there was a slight change in her voice.
She exclaimed: "You have! You know why I noticed that? Because you're an actress and you're an empathetic person. People with a lot of empathy will pick up other people's accents."
Denise admitted: "I can hear an infliction there... I mean, having said that Lincoln knows exactly who I'm on the phone to because apparently if I have spoken to a friend who's from Liverpool, I'm going like that" as she imitated a scouse accent.
Kelly then recalled when she first moved to America and she had to change her accent. She shared: "When I first moved to America, I remember my first TV show Smallville, and we had two English writers and they said, 'we love you for the part, but can you be more RP?'
"They wanted more, like a received pronunciation because my accent was so strong!".
Loose Women airs on weekdays from 12:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
