Ruth Langsford on Loose Women

Ruth Langsford had an important announcement for Loose Women viewers as Tuesday's episode concluded

As Tuesday's episode of Loose Women came to a close, Ruth Langsford made a significant announcement.

With fellow panellists Janet Street-Porter, Coleen Nolan, and Mariella Frostrup by her side, Ruth successfully steered the day's discussions, touching upon topics from an interview with EastEnders actor James Bye to George Clooney's latest career choices.

Before signing off, Ruth turned her attention to the viewers with a crucial update regarding the show's schedule. She informed them that Loose Women would be absent from Wednesday's TV guide as the programme makes way for the government's Spring Statement.

Imparting the news, Ruth told the audience: "We're not here tomorrow either because of the Spring Statement. I'm sure you're all looking forward to that. We are going to be back on Thursday though, with Adolescence actor Mark Stanley. I hope you can join us then!"

The Mirror reports that Rachel Reeves, Chancellor of the Exchequer, will present the spring fiscal event in the Commons on Wednesday after Prime Minister's Questions.

The ITV schedule will see a shakeup to broadcast the ITV News Special: The Chancellor's State, taking over from 12.15pm until 1.45pm. This means the favoured noon talk show won't take its regular slot on ITV's primary channel for the day.

However, Ruth reassured dedicated fans that Loose Women will return to screens at its usual time of 12.30p.m. on Thursday, 27 March.

Delving earlier into Tuesday's Loose Women instalment, Janet shared a personal account of her recent vacation down under, which, unfortunately, was marred by inclement weather.

As Ruth greeted viewers of the programme, she declared: "Of course, welcome back Janet. So, Janet, there I was sunning myself in the Caribbean for my birthday and I'm thinking you're sunning yourself in Australia, but no."

Janet, clearly not amused by the recollection, responded: "As I arrived in Australia, Typhoon Andrew was offshore, and for the next ten days, I lived in a state of high alert. I was given a walkie-talkie, I had to go and bulk buy water, and we were trapped in our house. The road to our house we rented was flooded. It was scary stuff, but you know me. Then, on the very last day of my holiday, the sun came out."

Despite the ordeal, she managed to inject some humour into the tale, sharing a clip where she is seen wearing a shower cap, wishing her fellow presenter Coleen a happy birthday. This light-hearted moment was captured during her rather eventful trip to Australia earlier in the month.

Loose Women airs on weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV1
