Loose Women's Coleen Nolan detailed how her family almost ended up in a car accident last Monday when another vehicle span out of control in front of them.

During Wednesday's (19th March) instalment, the panel sat down to discuss tougher rules being imposed on new drivers. Some of these restrictions include limiting young drivers from carrying peer-age passengers for the first six months, and potentially restricting them to smaller engines or driving at night.

Kicking off the discussion, host Christine Lampard said: "It's all down to experience driving, isn't it? Let's face it, the more you do it the better you get when you first pass your test and you get into a car, it's a lethal weapon in the wrong hands."

Coleen then shared her own recent experience of dangerous driving, as she added: "It is down to the driver I guess, we were nearly in an accident on Monday, coming back from our holiday. There was a lorry in front of us.

"Shane was driving, six of us in a people carrier, out of nowhere- we were all chatting away and it was all lovely, out of nowhere, I don't know what happened in front of this lorry but this car appeared and it spun right across in front of us and hit the central barrier."

Coleen then praised her son for how he managed to react as she shared: "He managed to swerve the car, while keeping an eye on this car and he stopped literally about three inches from this lorry, from going into the back of it. It was a split second, that wasn't him driving erratically, I don't know what happened."

When discussing about the idea of penalising young drivers, the star added: "There are some great drivers out there and young drivers and some terrible older ones."

This happened just days after Coleen celebrated her 60th birthday during a special episode of Loose Women on 10th March. Her children Shane, Jake and Ciara burst onto the set with an exploding confetti canon to celebrate her milestone.

Myleene Klass continued to say that she thinks everyone should have a refresh on their theory test. She said: "Things do change, illnesses happen, your eyesight fades you might have certain reasons why you’re not a confident driver anymore because life does get in the way…

"My daughter’s learning to drive and she got me to try and do the theory test and I just thought I reckon there’s not many people, including myself, who could pass this at the minute."

Loose Women airs on weekdays from 12:30 on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
