"I'm not happy..."
Coleen Nolan has defended Pamela Anderson on Loose Women after the actress faced criticism for her 'frumpy' appearance at the 2025 Met Gala.
The fashion extravaganza, which took place on Monday (Mat 5), saw a host of celebrities donning their most extravagant designer wear as they graced the blue carpet. During Wednesday's (May 7) episode of the ITV talk show, Christine Lampard led the discussion with Coleen Nolan, Jane Moore, and Oti Mabuse on the panel.
Christine initiated the topic by saying: "Pamela [Anderson] has been praised for her natural makeup-free look of late, but that didn't stop one journalist from writing this headline - 'frumpy Pamela Anderson looks worlds away from Baywatch glory days in grey 2025 Met Gala gown'."
The audience expressed their disapproval with boos, and Coleen Nolan, visibly upset, said: "I'm not happy... Listen, we can all be judgemental. We've all been out, with mates, we sit with girlfriends and we go 'Oh, I don't like those, shoes or I don't like..
"But the thought of putting your opinion like that, negative out in any public forum still baffles me to this day, why you would ever go on anybody's socials or direct messages or whatever, saying anything. It's none of your business."
She continued: "I think with Pamela, she has grown up with this whole Baywatch image and being accepted for nothing else other than her looks and she was the main star of it really... There's no doubt she was beautiful but I still think she is beautiful. I just hate all of this criticism."
Ex-Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse chimed in, the M.E.N reports, saying: "There's a lot of shame that's been put on women for just growing. We're going through so much, we have the world against us.
"Life is really, really hard and sometimes you just need a good girl group, but even strangers on the internet to just uplift you sometimes and make you feel positive rather than bash you for actually looking natural."
Jane Moore, a seasoned journalist, then expressed her views on the contentious headline by noting: "The mistake they made here is 'frumpy Pamela Anderson'.
"They've attached the word 'frumpy' to her as a person. Now, you could argue that the dress is frumpy, the dress is an inanimate object so there's no offence to be taken.
"It's fine to say if you think a dress is frumpy, but the mistake is that they've said she is frumpy... Is she supposed to do every red carpet in a red swimsuit with a plastic thing under her arm? I mean imagine the criticism she'd get then."
