She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005.

“I know so many people are suffering and going through things, but I thought, just for once, could cancer just leave me alone?

“My heart sank.”

The star continued: “I had feared something was wrong.

"My balance has been getting worse and my memory - my sisters have to prompt me when I get lost in the middle of a sentence.

“Maureen came with me to the appointment and my Macmillan Cancer support nurse was in the room, and I could just tell.

“I asked my consultant straight away: ‘Has it spread?’

It is the latest setback for Linda, who gave a devastating update on her illness in March after learning that her cancer had spread to her brain last year.

Since those were discovered she has been undergoing immunotherapy every three weeks.

She is due to start a new treatment tomorrow that it is hoped can slow the spread of her cancer.

Her treatment will include using Enhertu, a life-extending drug denied to thousands of women on the NHS because it's deemed too costly.

Last year Linda said she vowed not to 'live in fear' but admitted she didn't know if she would see another Christmas.

Her sister Bernie died from breast cancer aged 52 in 2013.

The disease had spread to her brain, lungs, liver and bones.

Linda also lost her husband Brian to skin cancer in 2007.

Linda was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in 2005 and given the all-clear a year later.

But in March 2017, she was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer which was identified after it had spread to her hip, following a fall.
