Lexi Wood’s Model Career Just Reached New Heights: “Most Successful Year Yet” tram

Lexi Wood is beyond proud of all she's accomplished in her career as a model. The 27-year-old Summer House Season 9 newcomer has been very open about her career, how she got her start, how she handles jobs now, and the challenges she's faced along the way.

During Summer House Season 9, Episode 8, Lexi took viewers with her to a modeling shoot, where she posed for the camera in different outfits and showed exactly what she does during her epic day job. She also explained how her mom, Shannon Cassidy Wood, and her sister, Tiffany Wood, play a huge role in her career. "I used to have managers all over the world. Milan, Paris, New York. And, recently, I got rid of all of my agencies and managers and now I'm working with my mom and sister," she revealed.

It also helps that Lexi hosts a podcast, 6 and 9, with her sister and her mom. So, it's easy to keep things in the family.

"It's just so fluid," she continued. "Brands reach out, goes straight to my mom and sister. Most of the time, I'm hanging out with my mom and sister. So, it makes sense to me. But also, this has been my most successful year yet. So I'm loving it."

When did Lexi Wood start modeling?

Lexi started modeling as a child. She opened up about this during Summer House Season 9, Episode 1. "I started modeling when I was about 10 or 11, which is crazy," the Toronto native explained. "Modeling is actually a lot more intense than people think."

"Like, when I first got to Paris, my agent sent me a subway map and they were like, 'You have a casting in one hour. Go figure it out.' I think I cried like three times on the way to the casting, but I booked the job," she continued. "And I was like, 'OK, yes! I can do this!'"

Details on Lexi Wood's life as a child model

But being a child model did not come without its hardships. Lexi opened up during Summer House Season 9 Episode 3 about how her career made her stand out from the other kids. "Growing up, I think a lot of people thought that because I was a model, that I thought that I was better than them," she explained. "So, kids weren't always nicest to me, and I think that's why I am super close with my family, because they allow me to be myself."

Lexi Wood opens up about her insecurities as a model

During Summer House Season 9 Episode 5, Lexi revealed that modeling has also highlighted her insecurities about her body type.

"I am a confident person, I do know my worth, but I do think sometimes hearing your biggest insecurities is difficult," she said during a confessional. "I've had agents in the past being like, 'You'll never get a specific client because of your body type.' And I'm like, 'OK, just because I don't have double Ds.'"

Lexi Wood says modeling can be "lonely"

Although her career has brought her to places like Bali, Australia, and Paris, Lexi told Modeliste in February that it can be a very isolating job. "I'm so grateful for the modeling industry, but I think people underestimate how lonely it can be," she said. "It's amazing to have these unbelievable experiences, but most of the time, you're experiencing them alone, without family or friends."

She continued, noting that it's hard to even keep up with the colleagues that she has in the industry. "It's also the worst feeling in the world to be on location with an amazing crew and models, then wrap and potentially never work with them again," she added. "Some of my closest friends that I've met through modeling live in Spain, Sweden, and the UK. There are little pieces of my heart everywhere."

Lexi Wood announces a new career venture

During the Summer House After Show, Lexi revealed that she is coming out with her own lingerie collaboration. She took to her podcast on March 25, where she revealed that she is collaborating with Hanky Panky, which has been "two years in the works."

"The collection was honestly inspired by so many amazing women in my life," she explained. "And my biggest motto has been, 'Sexy isn't a body type. It's an energy that you exude.' And for me, wearing lingerie has been such a staple in my confidence. Like, I'll wear lingerie under a tracksuit to go to the grocery store. No one even knows that I have it on. But I do it for me."
