Larsa Pippen Reveals Reason Behind Her Changed Appearance tram

Larsa Pippen is speaking out about her changed appearance — and clapping back at a doctor who claimed she had "excessive facial filler."

In a comment posted Friday, Aug. 8, underneath New Jersey-based aesthetic provider Mai Kaga’s Instagram video, Pippen, 51, told the doctor to “chill out” and shared that there was one specific reason for her new appearance.

“Honey I had PRP and had an allergic reaction so chill out," The Real Housewives of Miami star wrote.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, a PRP treatment, or platelet-rich plasma treatment, is a regenerative medicine technique in which healthcare providers "process your blood to concentrate the number of platelets in the plasma and then inject it back into your body." The clinic adds that this treatment can have therapeutic benefits for musculoskeletal injuries and other diseases that resist healing.

In her Aug. 7 post, Kaga claimed that Pippen had gone from "naturally beautiful to noticeably overfilled."

"From excessive facial filler to questionable surgery choices, her transformation is a reminder that not all cosmetic work is good work," Kaga wrote in the caption of her video. "Even with unlimited funds, choosing the right injector matters."

The Mayo Clinic states that angioedema — an allergic reaction that affects deeper layers of the skin — usually clears up within a day, it can also last for several weeks in rarer cases.

Pippen — the ex-wife of former NBA star Scottie Pippen — also received a reply from Kaga, who wrote back to the reality star, "Double board certified physician here AKA Honey."

“Allergic reactions to PRP are extremely rare,” Kaga then explained, per Page Six. "You simply will not find allergies to your own blood cells all that common. Second — allergic reactions don't last 3 seasons on a streaming network."

In an Aug. 9 follow-up video, Kaga also explained that she places blame on any potential doctors that might be giving Pippen aesthetic or cosmetic treatments.

"Yes, she's asking for these treatments, but there is somebody on the other side of that that is saying yes, and they shouldn't be," Kaga said. "Taking advantage of people and taking their money when they ask for something — that's not a good injector, that's a salesperson."

"You want somebody that's going to say, 'That's not really for you, that's not really what you're going to be looking for," she continued. "She obviously has a ton of natural beauty and that's what we should be trying to preserve and enhance."

Kaga then added in a separate comment that she made her initial video in the hopes of "[protecting] current and future generations of young women and men from having this outcome because they go to a doctor that they trust blindly, and they end up overfilled and over treated."

"By bringing awareness to this, hopefully it can help even just one person to think critically and not ruin their own natural beauty," she said.

Pippen also made headlines in July when she shared that she and boyfriend Jeff Coby were preparing to take things to the next level by shopping for engagement rings.

During an interview with PEOPLE at the time, the reality TV star said that she and the 31-year-old basketball player are "on a really good path right now" and have spoken about a potential engagement.

“We get along with everything. He's been asking me what shaped stones I like, so I've been giving him little hints," Pippen said of her boyfriend, who she has been dating since early 2025.

“We haven't really talked about the size, but we just talked about [how] I like the brilliant cut or an oval,” she added. “I feel like those are really cute.”

Pippen also spoke about wanting to keep their relationship private at first.

"I didn't want to share it with the world, but now I'm in a place where we get along really well, we basically do everything together, and so now we're more open,” she explained. “But I think the first few months, I feel like we were together every day and just did very normal things, and nobody even knew that we were together.”
