The Real Housewives of Atlanta is almost finished with its 16th season on Bravo, and fans are wondering which cast members will return next season. Kenya Moore, who joined the show in Season 5, spoke about her future during a live stream in July 2025.
When a fan asked if she would be back for season 17, Moore replied, “As of now, no,” but added that things could still change.
Moore was supposed to be a full-time cast member in Season 16. But after a serious incident involving fellow castmate Brit Eady, Bravo decided to stop filming with her. Most of her scenes were removed from the show, and she was not invited to the season reunion.
Later, Moore made a public statement, which was read by Andy Cohen during the reunion episode. In the statement, she admitted she was wrong, took full accountability for her actions, and she apologized to Brit Eady, the cast, the crew, the guests, and the viewers.
Even though she still talks to some of the cast, it is believed that her leave is tied to a legal issue of some kind. Reports suggest that filming for season 17 will begin in late August 2025.
Controversy during season 16 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta affected Kenya Moore’s appearance
Kenya Moore’s role in The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16 was significantly reduced following an incident at her hair spa opening.
Moore reportedly showed sexually explicit material related to fellow cast member Brit Eady during an event. Because of this, Bravo decided to suspend her from the show.
Even though she had filmed scenes for season 16, the producers chose to remove most of them after the incident.
She did not attend the reunion, but Andy Cohen read a statement from her during the episode. In the message, Moore said:
“I take full accountability for my actions and deeply apologize to all those affected, including Brittney, the cast, crew, guests, and viewers.”
Sources have indicated that the network's choice to halt production with Moore was not just a result of the incident but was also about Brit Eady's lawsuit.
Regardless of her circumstances, Moore was in communication with a few of her castmates and recounted that she was sorry for what happened.
Over the years, Moore's fan base had grown enormously, so to only get a few minutes in season 16 upset a lot of the fans.
Bravo has yet to offer any formal announcements on her future with the show beyond season 17 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
Legal issues likely influenced Moore’s absence in season 17 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta
Although Kenya Moore confirmed she will not appear in Season 17 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, the reason for her departure appears to be more complex than just her Season 16 suspension.
According to reports from TV Deets and other outlets, the decision is largely influenced by an ongoing legal matter involving Brit Eady.
A network insider stated:
“A lot of people [at Bravo] really like Kenya, but the lawsuit is a complete mess.”
The source added that while she won’t be part of the next season, her return in the future is still a possibility once the legal situation is resolved.
“She is still in touch with the women,” the insider explained, “but [executives] want to see how this lawsuit plays out before making any more big moves.”
During her live stream, Moore said talks had taken place, but at the time of recording, she was not returning. “As of now, no,” she said, “but that could change. I keep hearing a lot of different things.”
TV Deets also reported that most of the current cast is expected to return for Season 17 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, with filming slated to begin in late August 2025. No official replacement for Moore has been announced yet.
