Kayleigh Trappe is taking a trip down memory lane following her Dancing With The Stars journey.

Danny O’Carroll and Salome Chachua, Kayleigh Trappe and Ervinas Merfeldas, Jack Woolley and Alex Vladimirov and Rhys McClenaghan and Laura Nolan all battled it out for the Glitterball trophy, but ultimately it was Rhys and Laura who were crowned the winners.

Speaking about her time on the show, the social media star shared a snap of her teenage self, wondering what they’d think about her antics over the last year.

‘If ye had have told 17-year-old Kayleigh that she’d be in a Dancing final with 2 Olympians and Buster Brady…this is probably the face she’d pull,’ she wrote, alongside an image of her looking particularly bemused as a teen.

‘What a full circle experience,’ she added, with a number of pals taking to the comments to congratulate her on her monumental achievement.

‘That younger Kayleigh is so so proud,’ one user wrote.

‘Well earned place in the final and it could have just as easily been you lifting the trophy and no one would dare say you didn’t deserve it. You danced a dream and were a joy to watch. Well done. Can’t wait to see what you do next,’ another added.

‘And that young girl would be amazed at what you’ve achieved!’ a third penned.

Taking to social media immediately after the final, Kayleigh reflected on her time on the show.

‘A word of warning, I will not be crying in this video for a change,’ she joked as she shared a video to her Instagram story on Monday afternoon.

‘Lads, last night was just incredible. I woke up this morning ready to get the schedule sent to me of where I’ll be, what dance I’m doing this week, and it didn’t come. The comedown is going to be tough for me.

‘But we’re onto the next thing and I’m delighted for Rhys and Laura. Delighted for the whole gang really, it was a night to remember. Having everybody back, the judges were in good form, the crew were in good form behind the scenes; everything was just perfect last night.’

She added: ‘I can’t thank you enough for the support yesterday. I wasn’t on my phone much because I wanted to soak it all up but I still can’t believe you guys got me to the final. I’m delighted and I couldn’t be happier. I’m on cloud nine, thank you.’

Kayleigh went on to thank her pro partner Ervinas, as she said: ‘We’re basically in each other’s pockets for the last two months, we haven’t had one day apart, not one day apart, in over three months. We became great friends and I have a friend for life with Ervinas.’

She also thanked the choreographers as well as the whole crew behind the scenes at Dancing With The Stars.

‘I feel like I’ve just… well I’ve lost an Oscar I suppose!’
