Spilling the tea...
Bachelor Nation fans got to know Kat Izzo on Season 27 of “The Bachelor” and again on Season 9 of “Bachelor in Paradise,” where she found love and got engaged to John Henry Spurlock.
The two eventually announced their split shortly after the show, and now Kat is opening up about why their love story was cut short.
As she gets ready to give love another shot on the beaches of “Bachelor in Paradise” Season 10, Kat told “Bachelor Happy Hour” about the real reason why she and John Henry split.
She said, “You know, [there was] nothing serious that happened. I think through the airing of the show, we started to learn more about how we each handle conflict and adversity. And we just were not gonna, I mean it wasn’t my choice. But it ultimately ended up being something probably for the best.”
Kat continued, revealing, “It was under the umbrella of incompatibility, but we didn’t really have any major fights or anything like that. I think it just got too much and he wanted to go into a different career path than originally we both thought he wanted to do, which ultimately led him to Hawaii. And it just happened at a really hard time emotionally with everything else that was going on. But overall, we’re two good people but we’re definitely not each other’s people. And I think moments like how the show aired and how everything went down, our relationship really shows us what you can handle and if you’re gonna be compatible long term.”
Kat also reflected back on their engagement and shared how she thought he was her person when he proposed.
“I literally was like this is my person,” she said, “Now looking back I’m like I don’t think so, but I was a very different person. I think that I wanted a relationship so badly, I saw that for myself and I was willing to believe anything even though there were signs in front of me that were saying this is not going to make sense. And I think it took something as extreme as that for me to really sit back and evaluate how I see people and see the world and now I tread a little bit lighter. But yeah, no I fully believed that we were it.”
The Bachelor Nation star then opened up about why she decided to go back on “BIP” and what ultimately convinced her.
“I think I really was just like, if I say no and regret it, that’s not something I wanna regret,” she spilled, “What if there was someone there actually that I could meet or an experience that could be helpful for me to understand myself again? It’s just not something you really say no to. But it was mostly convincing me with the air conditioning. I was like you have to promise that there’s air conditioning, otherwise I’m not going. I’m not doing it.”
