Let’s hope Robert Irwin and Alix Earle are taking notes!
Julianne Hough‘s advice for celebrity contestants on “Dancing With The Stars” goes way beyond mastering fun freestyle choreography or intricate steps of a waltz.
In a recent interview with Well + Good the host explained that there a mental and emotional component that stars also need to keep in mind.
“If you can commit full out and put yourself in a vulnerable situation, knowing that the show is there to highlight you and encourage you, all people want to do is get to know you and get to see you,” she said. “The more authentic, the more real, the more vulnerable you can be and share the journey the better, because that’s all people really want: They want to go on that journey and see themselves in you.”
Hough, who is now host of the dance competition show, started out as a pro where her past partners have included Brazilian race car driver Hélio Castroneves, actor Adam Carolla, and country singer Chuck Wicks.
The dancer recently paid homage to the show’s 20 years on the air, reflected on the fact that she was just 18 when she arrived in the ballroom.
“I’m co hosting the show that quite literally raised me,” she said. “I’ve gotten to experience nearly every role this show has to offer, and each one has taught me something new.”
For the upcoming 34th season of the ABC show, famed conservationist Robert Irwin along with social media influencer Alix Earle have been confirmed as celebrity contestants so far.
