Bachelor Nation is getting ready for the highly anticipated Season 10 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
The show is heading to Costa Rica for the first time and will be premiering on Monday, July 7, at 8 p.m. on ABC and streaming later on Hulu.
Jesse Palmer will be returning as our beloved host, and bartender Wells Adams is being joined by Hannah Brown as “Paradise Relations.”
Now, Jesse is joining “Bachelor Happy Hour” to share about his experience in Costa Rica and spill how the new location of “Paradise” shook up filming and fueled drama on the show.
Reflecting on his experience, he said, “Costa Rica was awesome! And if you love animals, it’s incredible because there are so many different species of wildlife that you encounter every single day at work… It was so hot. It was humid. It was the rainy season, but it was sexy because we had the beach and water you could actually swim in… And then on the other side of it all, you had the jungle, so kind of the mystery and the danger and all the crazy stuff of whatever was in there too. I loved it. Once we got settled in, it was amazing.”
Jesse also shared how filming in the rainy season shook up their experience because they had to take a lot of breaks due to the rain.
“Sometimes [we had] five-hour stop downs. Like, it was severe,” he revealed. “The property was beautiful. I feel like we had more spaces to film in. There were just different scenes that were set up around ‘Paradise’ where the cast could be… There were a lot of different places people could go, a lot of different scenery around as well, so we just kind of made it work. All you can do is shoot around it and sort of be at the mercy of mother nature, but I think everybody took it well.”
Jesse then revealed that the cast had a much better setup than in previous seasons, including sleeping in rooms with air conditioning and swim-out pools, but also wondered how the new conditions might’ve affected drama on the show.
“I wondered about that a lot,” he admitted while thinking about the previous setup. “I think there’s this sliding scale because on one end, it’s like you have to get mentally tough very early on. But that could be emotionally exhausting after a while, and then maybe that lends itself to more drama or better TV. I also think cast morale is an important thing, though. You know, we’ve been there, we’ve done it… So I think it’s that fine line where people are obviously going to put themselves into some difficult situations and you have to let that play out too, but I also think you have to take care of the humans. And I feel like on ‘Paradise’ this year, we definitely did that.”
Podcast co-host and former “Bachelor in Paradise” star Serena Pitt chimed in about her previous experience on “BIP” and remembered feeling exhausted during her season.
She shared, “Everyone was just so dead and I feel like you get stuff from that, but then you also get a lot of good stuff from people that are like, ‘I feel my best, I’m gonna go put myself out there. I’m gonna go talk to this guy. I’m feeling sexy, I’m feeling energized.’”
