Jake Paul vs. Andre August Fight

Jake Paul has impressed despite his short and unconventional career in professional boxing so far.

Since becoming a boxer, Jake Paul has impressed with wins over huge names like Mike Tyson and Nate Diaz, despite his lack of fighting background.

The powerful 28-year-old fighter has won seven of his eleven fights via KO, showcasing his incredible strength and power in the ring.

Now that the YouTuber is preparing to face a former world champion in Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, he will have one of his most impressive knockouts in his mind in the build-up to that bout.

Jake Paul KO’d Andre August in the Golden Glove champion’s final boxing match
In just his eighth professional fight, Paul managed to end the career of a three-time Golden Gloves champion with a first-round knockout.

The YouTube star was 7-1 going into his fight with Andre August in December 2023. He had just defeated Nate Diaz earlier that year, bouncing back from the only blemish on his record in Paul’s defeat to Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia.

Paul faced criticism for facing MMA fighters and celebrities in his early fights, and decided to face a professional boxer in August to help regain some credibility.

However, August was not an elite-level fighter, having fought just once in four years before the bout after a middling career as a professional.

He did have success as a Golden Gloves champion as an amateur, so he could have posed a threat to Paul during their fight in Florida.

152 seconds in, any chance of that dissipated. Paul unleashed a barrage on August at the start of the fight, struggling to lay a hand on the YouTuber in the first round.

Paul landed some impressive body shots on August, before a clean jab was followed by a devastating uppercut that almost took him off his feet, sending the former amateur champion crashing to the floor.

It was as clear-cut a win as you could see, landing a first-round knockout in an impressive performance.

While he made no official announcement about his future, it seems clear that the loss to Paul was August’s last fight as a professional boxer.

Andre August’s trainer admitted he would retire after the Jake Paul defeat

While August never announced his retirement, his team certainly thinks he’s hung up his gloves after such a devastating knockout.

In an interview with USA Today, August’s trainer Justin Deshone admitted that the boxer will likely retire following the KO loss, claiming he doesn’t want to fight again.

“I think my boy’s going to retire,” Deshone said.

“I don’t think he wants to fight anymore. I was like ‘this is it, bro’.”

Nearly two years later, August has yet to step back into the ring and has deleted his social media, indicating that his days in the spotlight are over.
