In a recent appearance on the FULL SEND PODCAST, Paul engaged in a debate with the Nelk Boys about fighter pay. The Nelk crew, known for their close ties with UFC CEO Dana White, questioned the severity of the issue. Paul, who claims to have generated approximately $300 million in pay-per-view revenue during his 11-fight professional boxing career, contrasted his pay structure with the UFC’s baseline of $12,000 to fight and $12,000 to win.

“It’s pretty difficult,” Paul said about organizing fights for his events. “We have so many requests, so many fights. Mostly, we want to help young prospects, we want big names, then we want crossover fights like Uriah Hall vs. [Julio Cesar Chavez Jr]. We pay people the most they’ve ever gotten paid pretty much every card. It depends who or what their name is, but it could range anywhere from $40,000 to $1.5 million.”

Paul criticized the UFC for its revenue distribution, noting, “We’re not a $6 billion company. That’s my gripe with it: the UFC is making billions and billions of dollars, but still only paying the fighters 12 percent of the income.”

The Nelk Boys countered by questioning the sustainability of Paul’s model compared to an overarching promotion like the UFC. Paul responded by highlighting his structure’s similarity to the UFC’s with multiple fight contracts, pointing to stars like Amanda Serrano and H2O Sylve, who have been mainstays in his events.

Paul shared that Amanda Serrano’s earnings skyrocketed from $10,000 per fight to $2 million, making her the highest-paid female boxer. However, he acknowledged the challenges of creating a UFC-like organization in boxing. “It would be cool to do that in boxing, it’s just almost impossible,” Paul stated, citing the sport's deep-rooted history and the multitude of big power players involved.

Jake Paul, who recently secured a sixth-round TKO against Mike Perry, is set to face Mike Tyson in a rebooked matchup on November 15.
