Loose Women star Nadia Sawalha opened up about the moment she left her daughter with a stranger while on holiday, leaving her feeling 'ashamed' over the careless move

Loose Women presenter Nadia Sawalha confessed feeling remorseful for once entrusting her young daughter to a stranger's care. As the panel on the ITV show tackled the issue of parental guilt, Nadia shared a regret from years ago.

She said: "I am so ashamed to say that when Maddie was about two years old, we went to Argentina."

She recounted an incident in which they had left their daughter with a guide while exploring natural wonders: "We went to Iguazu Falls; they say if you look at Niagara Falls, that's like a tap compared to the Iguazu Falls, right? We'd gone off trekking with this guide, Maddie, on Mark's back."

Reflecting on their inexperienced parenting choice, she went on: "He said, 'Oh, do you want to try the boat?' We were like, yeah let's try the boat, new parents. We gave our child to this guide that we did not know, we're up a mountain."

Nadia recollects the experience vividly: "He's got her on his back, and we were on a boat, waving as we headed towards the biggest waterfall you've ever seen," reports the Express.

Detailing current feelings of guilt, Nadia disclosed that her now-adult daughter sometimes questions their actions from back then In defence of their decision, she clarified the mindset behind such an action: "It's just we didn't think. It was a moment of madness! You could hear me screaming as I headed towards the falls because I thought, 'What have I done?!'"

Nadia wasn't alone, as co-star Ruth Langsford also shared her similar experience with entrusting her son Jack to a hotel babysitter while overseas She recounted her experience saying: "We were in a villa in a hotel complex and they offered a babysitting service. One evening, we decided that we'd use the babysitting service and a lovely girl turned up.

"I said, 'Hello' and she said, 'Oh, I'm Maria' or whatever her name was, had books with her for studying and we said, 'Ok, we're just down there, here's my number, Jack never wakes up' We came back and everything was fine, he was asleep."

Ruth later conceded that it had hit her only after the fact that she could have come back to find her son Jack missing, acknowledging she lacked any details on the babysitter.

She added gravely: "I didn't check who she was, I didn't have a password, it was just, this hotel has sent this babysitter.
