After she was forced to delay her big day, Gemma is still adamant she'll have her happy ever after
Former TOWIE star Gemma Collins is still planning on having one of the biggest weddings in showbiz history, despite having to put the nuptials back by a year after her fiancé Rami Hawash lost his dad.
Speaking to Closer last month, the star, 44, told us their big day had been postponed after the businessman, 50, sadly lost his dad in May 2024. ‘We’ve put the wedding back,’ she said. ‘We were due to, and then it’s the first-year anniversary of his death this year.’
Despite the tough time, sources say Gemma is now hoping to set a date for next year – and she’s going all out. ‘There is a secret heartache about the wedding – Gemma has always wanted to get married and have the big fairy-tale wedding. She is now set on a 2026 date,’ an insider tells Closer.
‘She’s told friends that she would like three weddings and an Italian theme taking inspiration from Kourtney Kardashian. The main wedding will be somewhere very OTT in the UK, the second will be Italy, and then the third will be the formal one for her closest friends and family. It’s also looking likely that she’ll make it into a TV show and have it all filmed from beginning to end.’
The source adds that Gemma – who has been candid about her weight-loss journey, revealing she’s dropped three dress sizes after using skinny jabs – is hoping 2026 will give her plenty of time to look and feel her best. ‘She’s in a great place, but she’s hoping to drop a few more dress sizes and find her dream Katie Price-like wedding dress,’ the source added.
Gemma first met Rami in 2011 and they got engaged in 2013, before calling it quits just weeks later. They got engaged for the second time in 2021 after rekindling their romance during lockdown, but Gemma revealed they cancelled their wedding plans. Rami then popped the question once again during a romantic proposal in the Maldives last February.
Gemma – who is stepmum to Rami’s son Tristan, who he shares with ex Fernanda Mess – previously revealed that the six-year-old will be heavily involved in the day. ‘He’s our absolute number one and top priority,’ she said. It’s also been reported that her BFFs, twins Jedward – who she was spotted enjoying lunch with last week – will ‘play a special part’.
Our source adds, ‘Gemma is really busy but with still having 12 months to finalise plans, it should ease other commitments and help balance both work and wedding planning.’
