Ilona Maher gave her Dancing With the Stars premiere costume a redemption moment.
Maher, 28, rewore her pink fringe costume, which stained her hands pink on season 33’s opening night, for the show’s 500th episode on Tuesday, November 12. For her instant dance, where the competitors only had mere minutes to choose a costume and choreograph a routine to a song given to them live, Maher pulled out her embellished leotard, featuring a halter top, a fitted body covered in sequins, a cutout over her chest lined with hot pink and orange beaded fringe and a matching skirt.
For her second performance of the night, Maher glammed up her look with an elegant updo tied together with a sparkly hair tie. She added even more sparkle to her getup with pink stud earrings featuring a diamond halo.
This time around, Maher’s costume seemed to redeem itself and did not bleed onto her hands.
When she originally wore the bodysuit in September, the Olympian teamed the piece with shimmery fuchsia dangly earrings, a matching bracelet, a hot pink pout and a sleek ponytail.
Maher later explained that her costume was to blame for her pink hands after fans were questioning her stained hands.
“My costume,” she wrote via social media, noting the dye from the sequins was the culprit. “I kept fidgeting with it and had been dyed,” she continued.
On Tuesday night’s episode of DWTS, Maher and pro Alan Bersten scored a 28 out of 30 for their quickstep to “Chuck Berry” by Pharrell Williams, inspired by Jordan Disher and Lindsay Arnold’s season 25 performance. Later in the night, they earned an additional 24 points for their instant dance salsa routine to “Da’ Dip” by Freak Nasty.
Dwight Howard and Daniella Karagach ended up getting eliminated.
