I'm Calling It: 'Married to Medicine's Sweet Tea Will Leave Dr. G liennhi

Second and third wives typically believe everything negative their husbands tell them about their past wives, until they see the truth for themselves. It's in a woman's nature to believe she will be the exception, when, most often, problematic issues with a man don't change, he just changes partners. And it's forever prominent on reality television. Lateasha "Sweet Tea" Lunceford is learning this lesson in real time as her marriage to the much older Greg Lunceford aka Dr. G has proved every naysayer right during the last few episodes of Married to Medicine.

Quad and Dr. G Had a Very Messy Divorce

A prominent Atlanta psychiatrist, Dr. G was one half of the first couples on Married to Medicine with his then-wife Quad Webb. The couple were an avid part of Atlanta's social scene with Quad's fabulous personality and Dr. G's status, the couple appeared to be a match made in "power couple" heaven. The facade began to crumble when Dr. G started to realize he wasn't able to control Quad. The Atlanta socialite had a sharp mind of her own and had no intentions of being barefoot and pregnant waiting on him hand and foot at the house. Dr. G voiced his desire to start a family and Quad balked. She was focused on her career and satisfied with the two pups she considered her children. She even started a designer dog accessories business to cater to other fabulous dog moms.

It wasn't clear exactly what was the straw that broke the camel's back in the couple's marriage, but after the split was announced, things got ugly fast. Quad accused Dr. G of infidelity and he accused her of being a bad wife. Never one to pass up an opportunity for sympathy, Quad claimed the other women weren't there for her when Dr. G was allegedly caught in a hotel room with another woman during their separation. The divorce was eventually final and Dr. G was banished from the show, while Quad stayed on as the lone single friend to the married couples. Viewers were shocked when Dr. G resurfaced with a much younger, less fashion-savvy wife in season 10.

Sweet Tea Removed Dr. Heavenly's Name From Her Wedding Guest List

Lateashea affectionately nicknamed Sweet Tea, was less polished than the other co-stars, but seemed genuinely smitten with her handsome older husband. She made certain to mention she was excited to be married to a Dr. and snagged Dr. G with her initial promises to give him the family he desired and couldn't get from Quad. Dr. G was on cloud 9 with a wife that was content to make his happiness her priority and was willing to go against the entire cast, Quad included, in order to defend her husband. The Married to Medicine cast weren't kind to Sweet Tea, admitting that they were uncomfortable with her because of their relationship with Quad. Dr. Heavenly Kimes was the only one bold enough to ask Sweet Tea if she was sure she was ready to marry the much older doctor, but the younger woman was adamant that she was marrying the man of her dreams and there were no problems with their union. Lateasha attempted to block Dr. Heavenly from their nuptials because she felt disrespected, but despite her doubts about the success of the marriage, Dr. Heavenly snuck in and witnessed the ceremony.

As season 11 kicked off, Sweet Tea's relationships with the women hit even rockier waters. She ended up insulting Dr. Jackie Walters, which no other cast member has managed to do, and putting herself on the outs with all the ladies. Before she could consider attempting to resolve her issues with the ladies, the first warning signs in the marriage presented themselves. On a couples trip, Quad brought her new fiancé, King, along, eager to show off her handsome new boo. Although Quad's intent could've been to rub King's ripped six-pack in Dr. G's face, King was respectful and focused on enjoying his woman. During a couples' trivia game, emboldened by liquid courage, Quad questioned Dr. G and Sweet Tea's sex life. The couple was shocked by the question and attempted to blow it off. Quad found a soft spot and laid it on thick, bragging about her intense, passionate and frequent sex life with King. Dr. G's buttons had been pushed, and he erupted, causing King to respond. The men nearly came to physical blows, but security arrived in the nick of time.

Sweet Tea Was So Stressed She Did the Unthinkable and Disrespected Dr. Jackie

In the strangest turn of events, Dr. G blamed Sweet Tea for the fiasco because she insisted on speaking up for herself. The couple left the trip, returning to Atlanta but Dr. G was still boiling with anger. He pressed charges on King, and later at home berated his young wife. He labeled her naive and suggested she didn't know when to be quiet. In the finale episode, Sweet Tea is seen attempting to have her husband's back after being humiliated on camera by an irate Dr. G. At the reunion she once again attempts to stand by her man when Dr. G embarrasses himself by performing a ridiculous song titled, "Set Me Free" referencing his non-existent relationship with his ex-wife Quad. Sweet Tea watches with a pained expression, realizing she is doomed to support a man who is making a fool of himself.

Dr. G's irate behavior is a tell-tale sign that the issues from his first marriage were due mostly to his insecurity and need to control. Seeing his ex-wife, Quad happy in a new relationship with a successful man who appears to be the better man, revealed a deep-seated jealousy he was trying to hide. Sweet Tea is a country girl who assumed she was getting a great catch marrying a man of means that came with a fortune from his medical practice and fame from his relationship with Married to Medicine. Instead of a man happy to be her older husband in awe of his hot young wife, Dr. G is proving to be a controlling, insecure man who possibly still harbors feelings for his ex-wife.

Sweet Tea Won't Put Up With Dr. G's Controlling Ways For Long

Before Married to Medicine audiences write her off, they should be aware that Sweet Tea isn't as simple as her name suggests. Her flirtatious DM sent to Dr. G was as strategic as a military brief, and she followed through on her plan with admirable precision. Playing the sweet and submissive young woman enabled her to snag Dr. G up from the many eligible bachelorettes who weren't savvy enough to play the game to capture him, Sweet Tea is willing to have a baby and stroke Dr. G's ego, but it's unlikely she is willing to be a victim to his narcissistic behavior and chauvanistic ways. Just like Quad found Dr. G to be a great catch years ago, but had enough self-confidence to leave him when things became overwhelming.

Sweet Tea will do the same thing. She comes from a solid family, has a supportive twin sister and a great relationship with her father. She is also well-educated and has an impressive work history. Most women that are willing to stay with controlling partners don't have the same substantial foundation. At the reunion, Sweet Tea suggested to Quad that they may be able to find common ground in their individual fertility journeys, but the truth is their commonality will more than likely be seeing through the mental disaster that is Atlanta's top psychiatrist Dr. G. Watching this last season, it's clear the odds of Sweet Tea coming to that conclusion are bound to happen sooner rather than later.
